Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Really impressed with the food in all the venues. I was especially pleased that the meals were served hot on warm plates, it makes such a difference. We mainly ate in the main dining room as I'm not a fan of buffets but on the couple of occasions we ate breakfast there, so we could get off early in port, we were really pleased with the standard of food on offer and the relaxed atmosphere. All our MDR meals were excellent and we always got a table for 4 without any wait time. We had fantastic food in the Crown Grill and Bistro Sur la Mer using our onboard spend. The International Café was a favourite for an early breakfast, elevenses & lunch on a sea day or a snack after a busy day in port. On occasions it was busy but generally when people were waiting to get off in port. Absolutely nothing to complain about for us, it was 5* dining all the way.

Onboard Activities

Always had the pool to myself at 07:00 and throughout the day. The water was warm. Jacuzzis were numerous so I never had a problem getting one for the two of us. I did Zumba each sea day or late port day and Margaret was brilliant.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The Princess Orchestra, Jazz band, Guitarist and String duo were all excellent. I loved Rock Opera production show and whilst I appreciated the technical input, lighting and costumes in 5-SKIES I felt it was over produced and the voice of the male vocalist wasn't up to standard, it was entertaining though and the cast gave 100%. There really is something for all tastes. Personally I felt there were too many comedians who weren't really funny and were over reliant on sexist and ageist jokes and picking on audience members.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Without exception the service from every single crew member was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble. They were professional and friendly with an appropriate sense of humour.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship layout flowed well, although I do miss a promenade deck. The ship is relatively new so one would expect it to be well maintained and it was. It was spotlessly clean and cleaning was evident in all areas. All the cleaning crew were friendly and cheerful.

Cabin / Stateroom

Standard balcony cabin R525, great location and very quite.

Ports of call

Helsinki, Finland

We walked the short distance from the ship to the bus stop and bought a day ticket for zones AB for 8 Euros. We took the tram into the city centre to walk around the main sights. The ticket is great value as it covers the water buses. We took the water bus to the fort at Suomenlinna, a lovely coastal path walk and great views. On return we continued to explore the city and visited Temppeliauko Church and the Sibelius monument before getting the tram back to the ship. Even with our occasion use of the tram we still managed to walk 11 miles in total. A fantastic port destination.
