Not Regent's Best: service was not up to par; mistakaes were made in our excursion tickets, ports in Iceland were closed due to severe icing (no backup plan except 2 days in NUUK greenland which was one too many) need more space to comment

Review summary

All in all rather disappointed in this cruise just because of all the little things that went wrong and there seemed to be no backup plans for the weather induced changes. Also very annoyed at the Marriott situation even though the premises was clean and neat; it was 6 minutes from the airport and if we wanted to get back to Reykjavik for the day the cab fare was $125 USD each way. Really: who thought up this plan?? I'm sure I will not hear back from anyone in management about these happenings; I tried to call Customer Service but apparently you can't talk to a human being - everything has to be done by email. With all the money invested in your cruises I would think courtesy would prevail and a real person would be available to handle a passenger's concerns.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
breakfast service in LaVeranda (coffee service) slow and lacking; Compass Rose excellent as usual; Seti Mare needs improvement in entree and appetizer choices. Service in specialty restaurants excellent

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Trivia context in afternoon, guest lectures (no pool/weather did not permit @ 40 degrees.

Entertainment

Musical shows are the same on all Regent cruises/just okay. Foggie the comedian was excellent as was Crew Capers

Service and Staff

All was excellent including attendants

Ship tip

Don't leave any personal items exposed in cabin. Our SimCard was stolen during the last few days of the cruise, the only time it was not in our possession

Southampton (London), England

Was not impressed with staying 2 days in NUUK because of icing in other scheduled ports. Also quite annoyed about 4 hour delay with no explanation of docking in Reykjavik which caused cancellation of excusions to Blue Lagoon - the supposed highlight of the cruise: Bummer

Nothing of great value to see in this port unless your'e willing to spend another $250 PP to see glacier. This should have been included especially since upcoming ports were cancelled

Paamiut (Frederikshab), Greenland Did not visit port

Port was cancelled due to excess icing

Qaqortoq, Greenland Did not visit port

Port was cancelled dur to excess icing

Reykjavik, Iceland

Got into Reykjavik at 8 pm/all excursions cancelled. Got to see Reykjavik from bus window on drive to Marriott where we were dumped in the middle of nowhere for a full day before our flight out the following day. a Disgrace!

Disembarkation

Bus ride to overnight Marriott was almost an hour which meant we were left high and dry with no excursion available and nothing in the town which was not conveniently nearby
