Review summary

The ship is great. The ports were ok, but if you have already been to Europe many times, they were nothing special. We missed the little things that we present pre-Covid. Like the welcome back with water, tea and a towel. The Maître who used to know your name and what you liked. Yes, the wait staff was good and friendly, but it was just missing that something that is hard to put in words.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Did not start allowing people onto the ship until 12 (noon), but rooms were not ready until 3PM. Otherwise it was smooth and good.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food and drinks were excellent. Wine was included with the meals but only the days' select wines (red/white) of the day. Other wine was at an additional charge.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Enough activities to keep everyone busy and entertained.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Very good.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
We did not have children with us and do not know the answer to this question. However, I did see the staff entertaining young children with games and they seemed to do a good job.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Staff was good, but there was something missing. They were not as punctual or as polite as they were pre-covid. There also was no welcome back (water/tea and towels) after excursions.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Wonderful ship. Best ship I cruised on, after 26 cruises with 6 different cruise lines. Really nicely layout and well done.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Great size, tons of storage, wonderful bathroom. Huge balcony. This was a wonderful suite and it was always cleaned and in good condition.

Ship tip

We had no formal day, check before you go and possibly save yourself suitcase space.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

5 out of 5
A good starting or ending port. Additionally there actually is a lot to see there if you have the time.

St. Malo, France

4 out of 5
Nice. Port is modern and clean, city is old and interesting.

Brest, France

4 out of 5
Very interesting and enjoyable excursion. Good combo of new and old.

Lorient, France

2 out of 5
Modern 70's city. Nothing too interesting.

Le Verdon-Sur-Mer (Bordeaux), France Did not visit port

Decided to enjoy the river cruise in stead of 8 hours of bus driving. You will see the vineries the next day, this is a good day to enjoy the scenery on the west side.

Bordeaux, France

4 out of 5
Nice city with wonderful vineries.

Saint-Jean-De-Luz, France Did not visit port

This was a tender day and the seas were too rough. Therefore we could not disembark and it became a sea day.

Bilbao, Spain

5 out of 5
Very interesting and enjoyable excursion. Good combo of new and old.

Gijon, Spain

3 out of 5
Probably a nice town in the hot summer for locals to cool down by the beach but as a tourist not too interesting.

Cruise Bay Of Biscay

5 out of 5

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This ship has room service on disembarkation day, which is great! Process was fast, easy and the ship provided a shuttle to Heathrow.

It does concern me that Regent laims to be ALL inclusive and then charges you for extra wine selections. 😕

Appreciate your detailed review. Cruising still isn’t back to pre-Covid levels. Don’t know if it will ever be.
