Review summary

Love the design and layout of the Explorer . Desiree Parks, our Cruise Consultant is always available and helpful in our planning process. We have spent a lot of time in the Eastern Carribean on private sailIng charters. This region has the infrastructure for tourism and we feel that the Western Caribbean is in the early stages of building up these countries for tourism. Would not recommend this cruise because of the ports of call destinations.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Well organized and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the ship’s main dining rooms and buffets. Enjoyed our meal at Prime 7 but overall feel that the specialty restaurants are over rated and menus are too limited. Appreciate the availability of table for 2 and 4 people in all restaurants.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the pool, library, track and activities available in the top deck of the ship.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Loved the comedian. Stage shows were ok.

Loved the layout of the ship and always saw a staff member cleaning the outdoor food areas and coffee bars.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was comfortable and clean.

Ship tip

The coffee cafe is a nice comfortable place to read a book and enjoy coffee and the beautiful spread they have available.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

Port was organized and enjoyed the dolphin excursion. Transportation to the excursion and back to the ship was well organized.

Port was recently set up and the country’s roads are not set up for buses to travel across the country.

Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala

Harvest Caye, Belize

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Cruise companies have recently built the “resort” for the cruise ships. Went on a snorkel excursion which was to be a 45 min. Excursion. We were in the water for 15 min and then were told there was a crocodile in the water and we had to get out of the water right away. No one else was getting out of the water and no alerts were being given from the shoreline. Turns out the group doing the excursion needed our equipment for a larger group that just came in and took our equipment quickly to redistribute.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
Would have liked to have had additional time in this port.

Key West, Florida

4 out of 5
Beach town. Did a snorkel tour but the water was too cold. The catamaran sail was great and enjoyed being out on the water.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Well organized and painless.

cruising is about the ship, forget about the ports
