Another great trip by lach1981

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This was a very nice cruise. The family and friends we traveled with made it that much better. Everything went well except for one bad experience at Giovani's but we have had several excellent experiences at that establishment prior to this one.

Fall get away. by mikeh1944

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

It was a great time. A Birthday present for my wife. We both enjoyed the ship, the excursions, the food and the breath taking scenery to a part of the country that we had never before visited. Relaxing and fun.

Fantastic Cruise by lachapellebob

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The cruise was outstanding.  We really enjoyed every aspect of the cruise from the food, the friendly staff, and the many things to do on the ship.  The excursions were great and allowed to see things we had never seen before.  The ship was very clean and the staff ensured that it was kept that way.  We are thinking about taking it again next year.

Fall foliage cruise by pauljcampbell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Boston is a great city to visit but don't rent a car. Take shuttles and ride trolleys. You'll never find a parking place so don't drive.

Portland and Bar Harbor are quaint towns with beautiful views and some interesting history.

Great food too.

Fall Colors! Is there anything more refreshing? by debraskooiman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Serenade was a great ship.  Good crew, good food, good travel, good entertainment.  But for me, the best part was the NON-SMOKING Casino!! Yeah!

We were able to get a great deal of rest and still see the Fall Colors!  Loved it.

One week early for leaves color peak by Dlake6152

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Enjoyed Bar Harbor the most shore visit.  Ship crew member were excellent.  Ship evening entertainment was average.  Car parking for cruise was $140 which was in a Boston City parking garage.  Seems to me a cruise rate should be negotiated with the city for better rate seeing all the money the ship patrons spend in Boston.

Review of New England cruise on Serenade of the Seas by gordie1950

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Ship is old and in need of updates. Side excursions in Halifax and St. John were fun and informative. The trip from St. John to St. Martin was fun, informative and the seafood chowder was excellent. Boston was a great harbor to leave from and return to.

Fall Leaf Peeping by countj01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We went to see the magnificent colors that we've heard about in New England during the Fall.  Due to a drought this summer and high winds and rain,  there were relatively few leaves to see.  We did enjoy seeing a part of the country that we had never visited before.  We learned a lot about the history of New England and the Maritime Provinces.  After we left Boston,  Matthew continued out into the Atlantic and we had good weather for the remainder of the trip

Very Busy Week On Shore Excursions - sunny all week & calm seas by noracott

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Favorite - food excellent, cabin w/balcony  very nice and clean, and entertainment good. Staff was excellent.  Service was outstanding.

Shore Excursions - the tour guide only let us off for 20 minutes for lunch and and 10 minutes to see the Sea Caves at Bay of Fundy - so we didn't walk to the caves - not enough time - the tour guide was more interested in getting ahead of the other tour busses - this was a waste of money, although the tour guide gave us a good history along the 3 1/2 hr tour. Too much time on a bus.

Lots of photo opportunities when we were on our own

We loved the hop on hop off busses.

Bar Harbour town was gorgeous - rent a car or take a hop on/off bus.

Halifax was not so great - not much in this big city to see, but nice waterfront area. We took a private tour to McNabs Island - fascinating.

St John NB was ok, but not that great of city. Tour was a waste of money

Portland Maine - very nice city and picturesque.

MUSIC on the SHIP WAY TOO LOUD - especially in the CENTRUM of ship, it travelled up into our rooms on  every floor...TURN IT DOWN.

Great Cruise by mikekolar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The food selection was fantastic.  The weather was perfect.

I have been on cruises where there was a library (that was open 24 hours) that you could go to for quiet and read.  This ship did not have that!  Also there was not a designated room for games/cards - had to find a table in the restaurant.  Overall, we really enjoyed the cruise.

Entertainment was the same as the last time we were on this ship, we were disappointed except for the three tenors that sang. by Cruiser14088428

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We had trouble with the service at our table all week, the main waiter was new and needed more help. The assistant waiter was good , but over worked for the amount of people that he had to serve, we gave him extra tip!  We were disappointed in the service of gluten free foods  for my husband on the trip. The food over all,  was just o.k. I didn't think there was enough variety up stairs on deck eleven at dinner time or lunch.

Cruising in comfort by thecasterlines

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Favorite parts of the cruise were the weather (beautiful sunshine), the autumn colors (brilliant), and the comfortable accommodations. The excursions were very enjoyable.

There was some disappointment in the food selections.  There were some maintenance issues also:  bannisters that needed refinishing, windows that needed cleaning.

Generally a good trip, but we would probably recommend a different cruise line.

Perfect sized ship and activities by dbhendrix1974

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Quality of food and service in Main Dining Room and the Windjammer excellent!  Attentive and friendly servers.

Cinema was extremely small, would like for them to show movies in the Tropical Theatre when no other show is using it....

Need to have 2 shows on the first and last night - we missed both due to still eating in dining room.  Got there late the first night and it was so crowded, there was standing room only, couldn't really see the show too many people in front of us...

Need a permanent card room that is available 24x7...

Worth the money. by janbee01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

I thought our trip on RC Serenade of the Seas was worth the money.  However, had I upgraded to a higher cabin class, I would have been disappointed.  We loved the food and the restaurant choices, the dining room crew was far above expectations, the ports in New England and Canada were beautiful, and the boarding and exiting the ship were very well organized.  However, the ship is showing lots of wear and tear-carpets are worn, peeling paint in bathroom, couch soiled and worn.  The computers and wifi were a complete waste of money. The computers are old and extremely slow.  I paid for the wifi, and I could barely get online, either on my phone or on their computers.  It took the Customer Service Director three tries before he could log my in, using his passcode! The satellite television was also very disappointing--much of the week, we only got a few stations.  It would go out for hour at a time, even when in port.  Overall, we got our money's worth, but we heard the ship is going in to dry dock next year--I hope they will do a complete overhaul, because the ship needs it.  RC did a good job with everything else.

A beautiful ship and outstanding customer service on board.  The ports of call offered many opportunities to explore an exciting region .  A great trip if you enjoy the outdoors. A perfect mix of cruising and exploring the ports.

Excellent dining for restricted diets by Cruiser48919231

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We chose Royal Caribbean because they are reasonably priced and have good reviews for gluten free and dairy free service. We were not disappointed. Our head waiter (Jerome) oversaw each dish to assure our needs were met, and we were able to enjoy all courses safely. We chose from the menu for appetizers and main dishes, and he came up with a surprise dessert after each meal. Everything was flavorful and we had plenty to eat-- not what we are used to at restaurants, where we cannot have appetizers or desserts, and everything is plain. Kudos to RC! Food for special diets is only in the dining room and buffet-- not snack bars. Room service was not reliable.

Our room was straightened multiple times each day, and very clean. Space was small, but, as a married couple, we don't mind.

Some shows were better than others. The visiting entertainers were much better than their own singers/dancers.

Canada Cruise by KatCam

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We had a wonderful time on this cruise. I loved the ports in Maine and Canada, especially Bar Harbor and Halifax - wonderful port cities. The cruise entertainment for the most part was wonderful and could not say enough about the wonderful staff! They were awesome all around. The food is what kept me from giving this a 5 star. It was good, but not great.

Going down Hill by jfcrissy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Best Part - visit to Bar Harbor... Food was average.   Servers were excellent

but seem rush.  Did not appreciate the nickel, dime approach.  Always trying to

increase sales I.e. Pictures all the time at dinner , stair ways , etc.

Charging for a soda and adding 18% to each serve.

TV Lounge - in the very end of an exciting college football game they turned off

all the TV's stating the room was booked for an event. We had to leave a ND game with 2:37 second left.... WOW.  They add 13.50 per person daily for each guest for service  .  But give an extra envelope for serve tip.
