Review summary

I fell in love with cruising and am now a fan of RCCL. The Serenade is the right ship if you are looking for a smaller crowd, excellent ports and fine with a less hectic atmosphere. Definitely a winner.

Embarkation

Fast and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was very good but not excellent. I know it's hard to store fresh meat and seafood for an 11 day cruise but no matter how well it is frozen, freezing effects seafood and beef. It was surprisingly good especially the lamb.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
For a small ship, there was always something to do and the ship was in great shape. Katy (cruise director was fantastic). Only complaint is that ths big screen monitor at the pool was still down for the entire cruise.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Very impressed

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Could not be happier. Janel (room steward), Oleksii and Giresh (waiters) and Markus (entertainment) were great. I feel like they became family

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I have heard complaints from other previous cruisers on this site but considering the age of the ship, there weren't many maintenance issues. The big screen monitor at the pool never worked and my sofa was worn (but it was clean). I could see other things that are simply a sign of age but again everything was clean (I can't stand anything dirty) and well maintained

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very happy with my stateroom. Everything worked and it was comfortable. I was traveling alone so size wasn't an issue. Janel (steward) spoiled me

Ship tip

It's not a big ship or a party ship. There are a lot of activities but things slow down after 1am. Do not expect it to be a non stop party. Good ship for families and romantic couples. Solo travel was fun.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

Great tour at the canals but the port is rough. Im hoping the tourism filters to the people.

Colon, Panama

4 out of 5
Loved the Panama canal Lake tour. Very dangerous port right off of the ship so stay close to the ship and the tour group.

Cartagena, Colombia

5 out of 5
the old walled city tour was fantastic. Brief stop at Fort San Felipe. would've loved to tour. plan on separate trip to Cartegena to spend a couple of days

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
Favorite port. Definitely going back for a week in the future. Enjoyed snorkeling coral reef and Antilla shipwreck (tough to do since it was 30 feet down but dove down and touched the hull)

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
No excursion but really enjoyed walking around the town and crossing the Queen Emma pontoon bridge. Plan on going back for a longer visit.

Disembarkation
