Review summary

All in all, we enjoyed the cruise. The ports were fantastic. The Serenade of the Seas is a beautiful ship and the crew is spectacular. If you enjoy the smaller ships then you won’t be disappointed!

Embarkation

Quick and easy embarkation!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We only ate in the main dining room once. It was cramped and the food was not very good. We enjoyed Rita’s Cantina and ate there 3 times. The Windjammer food was good but the main courses could use a little more variety.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There are few activities unless you enjoy trivia or the endless art auctions. The pool area had the usual chair hogs which made enjoying the pool deck a challenge.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment onboard was phenomenal! All of our headliners were fantastic and the onboard singers and dancers were good! The guitar player, Jimmy, from the pub was the best we have ever encountered on any of our 9 Royal cruises. The lady that played the piano in the centrum and Schooner Bar was very entertaining as well.

Children's Programs

We do not have any young children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the staff we encountered were very competent and attentive. Our room steward, Floyd, was great! The bar staff were very attentive, as well.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was very clean and well-maintained. The only issue with this ship is there isn’t a large area that will accommodate a crowd. Having the different events in the Centrum is difficult as there are not enough seats or room for people to congregate.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin is in a very convenient location. It is close to the elevators and to the stairs. This room doesn’t share a wall with any other stateroom. The only problem, the noise from the Centrum is quite loud until about midnight each night.

Ship tip

The ports are spectacular as is the crew. However, the onboard activities are really sparse and it caters to an older crowd. Just remember it is a smaller ship and there are fewer restaurants and venues for entertainment.

St. John's, Antigua

We have been here many times and have done the excursions in the past. This time we just shopped and walked around.

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
We did do an excursion to a batik facory and an island tour. This is a great port with a lot to see and do.

Bridgetown, Barbados

4 out of 5
We did an Island tour on a previous cruise. This time we walked around the downtown area. Not one of my favorite ports. The people were not that friendly and certain areas of the city was very sketchy.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
This is now my favorite Caribbean port! Loved the excursion that covered the island and showcased the people and the history of the island.

Oranjestad, Aruba
