Review summary

This is the first time on Serenade of the Seas. A lovely smaller ship with great character. Superb staff as normal who do everything to make your holiday special. Mario at the concierge lounge was great! We are lucky to have unlimited drinks and snacks every day from 4.30 to 8. Also 3 free drinks from any bar!! We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise!!

It was okay but we did not like Fort Lauderdale Port very much. Impersonal and crammed full!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate in the main dining room for 6 days and used choppes grill and Giovannis Table twice each. The dining room was fine but it is the same old food that you can get fed up with after a few cruises. Service from Leo our waiter was flawless. He was also great fun!!

Chop's Grille

5 out of 5

The steaks on Serenade were all cooked to perfection. We love Chops Grille and always try to eat there at least once. The 9oz filet mignon is my personal suggestion together with asparagus mac and cheese and creamed spinach. For starters the grilled bacon is yummy and the puddings are huge. The ice cream sundaes are delicious!!

Onboard Activities

We played golf on the 9 hole course. Always good fun!!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The headliner shows were a bit ordinary mainly consisting of comedians which we didn’t enjoy much. However all the musical acts were great and the Royal Caribbean singers and dancers Very professional. The ship orchestra excellent

Children's Programs

No children in our party

Service and Staff

Room stewardess was lovely. Kept our cabin spotless and brought us ice twice a day. Towel creatures brilliant

Ship Quality

Mostly good but a few places needing a lick of paint

Cabin / Stateroom

To be honest we think that in a recent refit that the cabins must have been made smaller to fit in more of them. So much smaller than similar cabins we have had. That apart it was fine. Lovely having our own outside space.

Ship tip

Enjoy and experience everything on the ship!!

Okay. Went on a deep sea fishing trip that was very disappointing. 4 hours and no fish. Certainly wouldn’t do again as it was £100

Basseterre, St. Kitts Did not visit port

Itinerary changed yet again!!!

Castries, St. Lucia

Loved it. Went on a 7 hour excursion on a catamaran to visit a plantation and snorkelling. On the way back a massive party with unlimited rum punch and loud music. Brilliant. We were running out of time so they dropped us off right by the ship. Organised by Carnival sailing that I booked online. £98 each but worth it!!

Bridgetown, Barbados

Not a nice port at all. It rained all day which didn’t help much. Very over rated we think!!

St. John's, Antigua

We just wandered around. Found lots of bargains in the shops and ended up in a local bar that we have visited before!!

All very good. We went on a ship excursion on an airboat in the Everglades. Saw an 11 foot alligator! Then talks about local wildlife! The burgers in the van there were very tasty. A great way to burn off time if you are flying later at Fort Lauderdale or Miami Aurport
