Review summary

Overall, I liked the service on the ship and overall appearance. Like all cruise ships, they nickel and dime you to death on the cost of the drinks, internet and other side services. The shore excursions were of average quality and I had my last two excursions canceled for undertermined reasons. The passengers on the ship were not the most active (almost all of the bars were empty).

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The quality of the food was excellent, but the variety was limited at the buffets.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Didn't use much of them since the general passengers stayed in their rooms at night.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Had a minor problem with the dinner staff the first night, but moved to another area and the wait staff was excellent. The general friendliness of the staff was good, but not going above or beyond.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I liked the layout, cleanliness and overall accessibility of the ship. I have been on five previous cruise ships and this seemed to have the best layout.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The size and layout was acceptable, but still having the old analog tube style TV dated the stateroom.

Ports of call

St. John's, Antigua

5 out of 5
Took the Best of Antigua - AN01 excursion. Enjoyed the views from the old forts, but the time at the Nelson's Dockyard was way too limited. Need to allow 45 minutes of shopping time at the location instead of the extremely limited 15 minutes. I would suggest just taking a taxi to this location. The shopping at the port was much better than expected.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Love the beaches and the shopping. My wife wants to return here for an extended vacation.
Don't Miss: The sjhopping at either port.

Castries, St. Lucia

The beauty of the island is wonderful, but the shopping is average. Use the water taxi in lieu of walking to the shopping center. Did find some locally made products on the second floor of the building where the water taxi drops you off. Also liked the restaurant that overlooks the bay at the same building.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Went on the Tiami Five Star Catamaran & Turtles - BB33 excursion. Overall, the catamaran was nice and the crew friendly. The port was ok and the shopping is better at other ports.

Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

3 out of 5
This port is the most limited of all the ports. Almost no available shopping at Frederiksted. You have to take a taxi to the other port of call, Christiansted. However, there is a beach right next to the port that is free and very nice.

Pros: I liked the layout of the ship and service

Cons: Internet cost was excessive and the St. Croix port was not the best.

Recommends Serenade of the Seas? Yes!
