Review summary

This was our first cruise and all my fears about cruising have been eliminated. I was afraid of feeling closed in and that was not possible on a ship this size. I thought I would get bored, not so. The Serenade of the Seas is beautiful. There was so much to do and you could choose to participate or simply do nothing and relax. We enjoyed the comedians at the shows. They were very funny. We had a balcony stateroom and this turned out to be a perfect choice especially since we were cruising to Alaska. The views were beautiful right from the comfort of our own room. The room was very well laid out and had amazing storage for all of our things. The ship was spacious, beautiful and very clean. The staff all around was more than accomodating. The only problem we had was that my daughter's sea pass card would not open our door to the stateroom. It worked everywhere else on the ship, just would not open the door. They tried to fix it a number of times, but could not. It was a minor inconvenience. We ate at the Chops Grille one night and it was worth the extra money. The service and food were excellent. We had no problem getting a reservation even with a full ship. My daughter was able to use the spa and highly recommends the seaweed wrap with the full body massage. The woman who took care of her knew just how to deal with a teenager to make her feel comftable and thoroughly enjoy the experience. I highly recommend this ship and this cruise to Alaska. We had a wonderful time and consider it one of our best vacations. When we wanted to relax we could and when we wanted to do activities we could.

If you want local stores head down pass the Red Onion Saloon.

We went dog mushing and had a great time. Our driver, John, who picked us up and drove us to the dog mushing site was informative and very entertaining. He stopped so we could just look at a beautiful eagle just sitting in a tree. Skagway is also a great little town. Very old fashioned looking and quaint. The Port of Call restaurant had great food.
Don't Miss: Dog Mushing.....skip the train ride.

This zip line was down when we visted and this was very disappointing.

Pros: The Staff was gracious and very helpful at all times, always looking to please.

Cons: We loved everything!
