Review summary

The design of the Serenade is stunning in that there is an awesome view from many areas of the ship, whether outside or inside. The sailing was smooth as glass, the food selections outstanding, and the Royal Caribbean crew was able to move a lot of people in a very organized, and pleasant fashion. Hat's off to them, I will be back.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The dining areas were spacious, and beautifully done. The wait staff was friendly and efficient, and the food absolutely delicious.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The shows were mediocre, although the cruise director was very funny and upbeat. The piano player in the Schooner Bar was outstanding.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Other than the wait staff, I did not find the crew overly friendly and willing to go out of there way to help. In fact, there were several mistakes made, and when pointed out were handled but "with an attitude." (The casino pit boss was nice too - think Carlos was his name.) Most of the crew acted like they were tired.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Lot's of glass, beautiful artwork and rich detail in every public area.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had a balcony room next to the royal suite on deck 10. It was roomy, though not fantasically appointed frills.

Ports of call

St. John's, Antigua

The beaches were fantastic. I took a 4x4 tour through the jungle to a fabulous beach - clean, not heavily traveled, and the vendor's establishment was clean with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The driver on the tour was a hoot, very entertaining, knowledgeable and patient with people. His driving was not for the faint of heart, but it made the tour exciting!

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
Friendly, lots of options, beautiful beaches. Get your own taxi and go straight to one of them.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
We took a "swim with the turtles" snorkling tour with "Doubloon" and they were great - safe, funny and generous with the rum punch! St Thomas is very Americanized.

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
The beauty of this island is unsurpassed by any island I have seen yet, other than Hawaii. Good shopping too. I want to go back there and spend a week...or more !
Don't Miss: The Zip-line tour - take a dare and

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Too busy, and there seemed to be some "political unrest going on." Taxi drivers with attitudes. However, the coney island I quickly stuffed down in the limited time they gave us was a delicious break from rich/gourmet food!

Pros: The food and the itinerary

Cons: Being overcharged more than once
