Review summary

We love Seabourn, this is our 4th trip with them. Were a bit disappointed as it seems that their standards have slipped a bit, both in food quality and service. Some of the newer staff seemed to lack training and supervision, but ALL were very nice and pleasant. We hope that they will recover as we will try them again. A little skeptical of their new ships that appear to just stack and extra deck of passengers on to the same overall public areas.

Food and Dining

Overall Seabourn has slipped. Food quality was good, not great. They are trying too hard to be fancy and letting the basics of quality slide. The beef was terrible low grade. Overall good . . . but not what we expect from previous Seabourn cruises.

Maintenance has slipped a bit, again we hold Seabourn to a very high standard, but it was not as good as in the past.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin layout, size, and amenities are very nice. A few signs of wear, but overall very good.

Middle of nowhere, lots of gunfire to be heard as entering the port (turned out to be a border military base practice range, but a little unsettling). NOTHING in the port or town but poverty.

Puerto Quetzal

Extreme poverty.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Costa Rica is great, went Zip Lining in the rain forest. Never thought I would find myself doing this and enjoyed it a lot.

PORTOBELO, PANAMA

You have to go on an excursion. Would not walk one block in this town alone, a total mess. Went on the monkey tour . . . lots of fun. They had monkeys climbing in the boat with us, also good small boat ride right up the Panama Canal right along side the big ships

Cartagena, Colombia

5 out of 5
Great Surprise, modern large city. Clean with very well preserved historic Spanish Colonial center. Hired and independent guide with taxi, would go back there to spend 2 or 3 days to see more detail.

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

Just a place to get off the boat

Disembarkation

Very slow, probably due to customs back ups.
