I took this cruise with an open mind and I will say that VV was the worst when it comes to entertainment, drinks, and shopping.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
We waited on line to check our bags. After 15 minutes, the porter was writing our room number on a tag and attached it to our luggage. Preprinted luggage tags would of eliminated this mess. When we got yo our rooms, the bags were missing. Later we found them at the wrong room. We also had to ask several times which line to go on every step of the way because there were no signage.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The Wake was good and the Galley. We spend most of our whole trip eating upstairs in the galley because it was the most convenient and the only place we could of eaten. You have to book all your dining ahead of time. Ordering a drink from the bar took about 30 minutes. They use wine, beer, ginger, saline, punt e mes, vermouth, absinthe, assorted flavored gins, activated charcoal, and, cardamom to name a few. All the drinks tasted sour and disgusting.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Nothing really to do. Again, you have to schedule all your activities ahead of time, like as soon as you get on board, and even then, mostly everything was unavailable. There weren't many things to do on board anyway. Gyms and workout stations everywhere on the ship. I'm on the cruise to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and that includes working out. Rave music played outside the pool area very loud all the time and at some points sounded distorted.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
No real entertainment. The shows are just the staff dancing around in front of you, mostly guys who are all flamboyant, to rave music. Rave music day and night and played extremely loud outside. Especially scarlet night. The staff is dancing around the pool to rave music. If drag shows and queens are your thing, then go for it. That was the main show of the trip.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The galley was the best place to eat and the staff was great at taking your order and getting your food to your table. We enjoyed that. All other restaurants were reserve only with some stand by seats.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Everything looked okay. Didn't see any of the staff cleaning around the ship but then again, a lot of the walls and spaces were designed not to show fingerprints because it was either the rough surface type or material/fabric on the wall. Some of the seats were fabric and you can see the dark worn areas on them.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The first day we found the ice bucket full of water. They didnt checked that from the previous guests. I can understand a carafe full of water but where did the water come from? We didn't drink it the whole trip but was it wasnt replaced either. I noticed the level and it was the same the entire trip. I prefer the bottled water anyway. A half eaten cheese burger was found on the upper shelf. Furniture was Ikea type furniture.
Ship tip
Stick with the other cruise lines. They've been in business for over 50 years and know what they're doing.
Thanks for your review and sorry your cruise wasn’t what you hoped for. We’ve been tossing around trying Virgin Cruises but after reading your review, as well as a few similar, think we’ll stick with what we know and like.
Wow!
This is just really really bad. Clearly they did not do the customary deep-clean normally performed prior to receiving the new batch of cruisers. All this sounds real bad, but ultimately gross & disgusting. Thanks for your detailed review!
