Review summary

The cruise was relaxing, and served the purpose of letting us recover from jet lag after a long flight from the West Coast before a demanding week in London. It was disappointing that one tour (in Copenhagen) was cut short, and another stop (Skagen) cancelled entirely.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Except for the desserts, the buffet was subpsubparar. The dining rooms had a much higher quality of food.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The pool area was attractive, if crowded.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the music in the atrium, especially the violinists and the British Invasion bands.

Children's Programs

No children with us.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was as advertised. We were right that it was too chilly to need a balcony, but regretted the obstructed view and the lack of places to sit in the cabin.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

5 out of 5
A pretty town, but we didn't spend any real time there.

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium Did not visit port

Too jet-lagged to tour.

Copenhagen, Denmark

3 out of 5
We took the city tour, which left late--we appreciated being partly reimbursed for this. I would have skipped the stop at the little mermaid statue in favor is seeing more of the city, but we did get an impression of the handsome architecture. The second stop at the tourist center was dismaying: restrooms were flooded and filthy, though that's not the cruise line's fault.

Skagen, Denmark Did not visit port

We were disappointed that this stop was cancelled due to wind conditions.

Oslo, Norway

4 out of 5
Approaching Oslo through the fjord was the highlight of this cruise. We visited the three museums ofn the peninsula, of which the Viking museum was most impressive--though terribly crowded. I only wish we could have seen more of the city itself.

Disembarkation

We didn't receive our scheduled wake-up call. We had to rush off the ship when the steward knocked to clean the room, and missed breakfast.
