I used to love cruising with Princess, I was their number one fan. I chose this vacation based on the wonderful itinerary. After this experience however I don’t think I will ever book with them again. A while ago somebody in our party also got medically disembarked from another ship, the Celebrity Eclipse, and they handled it wonderfully. I hope nobody has to experience what we did now...
Embarkation

Security actually demanded a Schengen visa from my husband, who has been living in the Netherlands for years. It’s like asking a US citizen about his ESTA. One hour of stress before they realized their mistake...
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Compared to the Royal Class ships the buffet, international café and Alfredo’s were poor.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Loved the covered pool.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The stage shows were ok, the music and atmosphere in the nightclub were terrible.
Children's Programs
We did not travel with children
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Our waiters in the MDR were wonderful. As said we had a problem with the security personnel. The room steward did a good job but was very scared and nervous. Although we treated him nice he kept asking us to please be good to him and not complain about him because he was so scared about losing his job. We constantly needed to reassure him. Not really relaxed, we felt bad for him.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The Sapphire is old but very well maintained. If you are into modern designed ships like we are you might not want to choose this ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
We were in accessible room E717. The plumbing needed maintenance four times in five days. The room layout is wonderful. It was our first inside stateroom and we surprisingly loved it. Entering the room is very hard. Turning towards the entrance is narrow, and no door opener so you can’t enter or exit the room without help from others to keep the door open.
Ship tip
Whatever you do please stay healthy. I got sick while on the ship and they dropped me like a hot potato in the middle of nowhere.
Since I became sick they decided to disembark us in Honningsvag, literally the end if the world. Three full days later Princess called us to ask if we had had a nice trip home. I was still in a clinic very high above the Arctic circle.
Not sure what the terrible issue was? Is your complaint about the security people? Aren't they port employees and not under Princess's control? Was your complaint that Princess made you go to a hospital? That's Maritime protocol and not Princess's fault that you happened to be in the artic circle when it happened. Sometimes bad things happen and it's not anyone's fault. Hope you feel better.
