A wonderful 7 day cruise of the Norwegian Fjords. Best seen in the sunshine, but very dramatic if overcast. We were lucky having mixed weather. Our best days were warm a sunny and couldn’t have been better for Geiranger. We set sail around 5pm through Geirangerfjord. Seeing the ‘Severn Sisters’ waterfalls tumbling down from snow capped mountains was both beautiful and amazing. This is a cruise we would highly recommend.
Embarkation

Boarding was efficient and speedy as always with Princess cruises
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Excellent food presentation and server always choices/selections in both silver service dining and Horizon Court self service restaurant. We did not feel it was necessary to eat in any speciality restaurants that incur surcharges.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The swimming pools are inviting and always clean and inviting, plus there are several jacuzzis around the pools. The library is extensive with a ‘swop’ section. The base of the atrium is the perfect venue to relax with coffee and occasionally a pianist at the white grand piano. There are many activities that we didn’t use as we went off the ship sightseeing.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The Princess dance troupe and four singers are very professional. You could be forgiven for thinking you were watching West End entertainment. The costumes and scenery is second to none. We’ve been on many (28) cruises and Princess stand out In many ways to us including the beautiful theatre and entertainers around the ship. Our guest acts were certainly worth watching...an amazing young soprano, an excellent violinist who played all kinds of music and Gareth Gates another evening.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All the staff on our cruise from our cabin steward to waiters, waitresses and reception staff were accommodating and courteous at all times.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Everywhere without exception was well maintained and clean on Sapphire Princess. Our cabin was hoovered every day. I know this as I often dropped glitter or sequins from my clothes! Our sheets were changed midweek and towels were changed if you left your dirty ones in the shower tray. Flannel are supplied. This was our second time onboard this ship and on both occasions the ship has been immaculate. The design and layout is much like many other cruise lines ships of her age group.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
A large cabin with fabulous forward views. We had a large double bed as requested at booking, but the steward is willing to change to singles if you wish.
Ship tip
Carry your little pocket sized map of the ships layout (given to you at check in) especially if it’s your first trip on Sapphire Princess.
To go ashore here we needed to use the tender. Beautiful scenery fast running rivers coming down from the snow capped mountains. Beautiful scenery. There are a few shops selling clothes or souvenirs plus cafes.
The ship docked very near the quay. Easy access to disembark for all. We didn’t do an official excursion, but we took a red bus tour but not ‘hop on n off’. A trip around an hour along beautiful lakes to a glacier. Cost roughly £18 each.
