Review summary

Our first cruise with Princess, we normally go with Celebrity. I would try them again, but not on Sapphire. We’ve been spoiled by the glitz and glam of Celebrity ships and found her old fashioned (but comfy) and very, very cramped in all the main entertainment venues. It was difficult to get seats at any venue at any time - this could have been due to schedule or the passenger mix, of course. That said, if we were on a destination immersive cruise, she might be a good option. After a long day out, Sapphire would be a lovely, comforting ship to come back to. Like your favourite Auntie

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I personally thought the service was excellent in all the catering facilities. Sabatinis was especially good. I thought the standard of food in this specialty restaurant was excellent. We had a suite and so had Club Class dining in Santa Fe. The service here was very good, but I thought the food quality was average

Onboard Activities

Facilities were good. Plenty of pools, room and space

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The programme was excellent, always plenty on. The Cruise Director and immediate staff were fabulous. The standard of the Ship entertainment staff was very average. The DJ was awful- not a clue! Who plays ‘Sad Songs’ by Elton John on Sailaway?!!! The show singers were singing beyond their range and for the boys beyond their skill. The Dancers were like fairy elephants...bless them. Believe me, I’m in no way ‘sizeist’ - but this is their job!! Atomic were a sweet bunch, with the absolutely best guitarist at sea! But the singing was a little painful. Danilo was great and the guest acts all fantastic.

Ship Quality

Ship was very clean, but she’s an old girl and looks it!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Lovely cabin, very spacious and well appointed. It was a bit tired looking, but ‘classic’

Ship tip

She’s a lovely, friendly, welcoming ship. I would recommend her for anyone looking for a comfortable, enjoyable cruise. If you’re looking for the wow factor and a glamorous, all singing and dancing trip, don’t choose this ship

We got hurricaned and could not get into Funchal - big disappointment to all. Was to be highlight of trip for many. That’s cruising for you though and safely must come first

Thank you, good to know ahead of time... We’re new to Princess too, and board her in January in Shanghai so maybe 🤞entertainment will be very different over there...
