Food and Dining

Absolutely the worst food we have ever had anywhere. We wish we could answer this differently because when one purchases a cruise more often than not it's the food that attracts travels to go the all-inclusive route and spend a bit more overall for their vacation. We have traveled the world and there isn't much we haven't tasted, good and awful cuisine, but try it nevertheless. In elevators, bars, casino, excursions, hallways, etc., there was always passengers engaging each other in conversation and that conversation would end up talking about how awful the food was. Alaska/Seafood/Alaska/Seafood/Alaska/Seafood---right? Nope! Diningroom served 3 bite lobster tails one night. lots of salmon prepared in the strangest ways. Rockfish which is not the best fish to begin with. Lots of porkchops, knockwurst floating in a milky substance, Beef Wellington with a 1/2in of. liver pate in the soggy crust, the chefs love tomato and bbq sauce, it's on 1/2 the buffet food

Entertainment was average. There was a lot of changing of venues at the last minute so if you missed the announcement, which you can hear from the hallway only, you would do a bit of running around to get to the right place.
Service and Staff

Noel our room steward was awesome, the passenger desk ladies were very nice and pretty much that was it. NO smiles, no greetings, Buffet/dining room staff didn't seem to want to wait on anyone. It took at least 10mins or longer to get a drink of water. One even rolled her eyes when handed a finished plate to clear some room on our table. Is Princess not paying these people enough? We will never know I guess.

It's a good sized, nicely layed out ship. Decor is up to date and everywhere we went it was very clean. The stairs were pretty narrow compared to other ships we have been on so there was lots of gridlock when exiting the ship during ports of call. Elevators were extremely SLOW and overcrowded so be prepared to take the stairs if you wish to get anywhere in a timely manner. The up side of that is you'll get some exercise. There are lots of bars, if that's your thing. The casino is pretty small considering the size of the ship so at times it was extremely crowded.
Cabin / Stateroom

Love our mini-suite. It is so far the biggest stateroom/balcony of any cruiseline we've been on. Get the one with the tub, it was huge and if you drop the soap your butt won't stick to the wall trying to pick it up. Water pressure was very poor and never got better. Toilet flushing problems with all passengers became an irritating issue but fixed quickly when reported. Our group had adjoining cabins so we had our balcony doors opened for access to each other which was nice.
Did the zipline and salmon hatchery here. It rained sideways the entire day but it did not matter. Go on a zipline excursion, you will not regret it. We watched bears fish salmon in the streams below our rope bridges. Awesome time and would do it again. The Alaskans are so friendly and welcoming at every port. All tour operators at every port were funny and extremely friendly. We could not be happier with the money spent on all of our excursions and exploring this beautiful part of America. Experiencing Alaska made every bite of the ships awful food worth it.
Very nice place but only a few hours in the dark to explore. The ship canceled our excursion "The Pub Crawl", lack of transportation due to a Beerfest going on downtown. There wasn't enough time to go to the Beerfest so we walked to the wharf and back to the ship about 1 1/2 hours later...
We loved this town the most. Lots of interesting history here. Went to the City tour and "98" show. It was great, then took the White Pass train ride. This is a don't miss excursion as well. Left side of train gets the best views but don't fret because everyone changes sides on the way back so everyone gets a chance to enjoy the same view.
Another beautiful city. We took the Salmon fishing excursion. Caught 4 salmon and paid to have them processed and overnighted to us along with 10 lbs of fresh filleted halibut. Had a wonderful time doing things we would not normally get a chance to do. Whale watch from the ship because you will see them. Don't waste money on that, do something exciting instead.
