The entertainment and the ports saved the cruise. Princess Ruby left a lot to be desired. Won't cruise Princess again.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
We were given a 10:30 check in time. Got there at 10:20, checked in, and SAT for 90 minutes, along with 2000 other passengers. Didn't get onboard until noon!!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
I've cruised 12 times and this ship had the worst food of any I've experienced. Weird menus in main DR and boring, bland food in buffet. Even iced tea was horrible as it looked like dirty water.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Pools overcrowded, had many events going on.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows in the theater were the best thing about this ship. Great musicians, excellent magicians,
every show was great.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
Most staff seemed to be un-interested, especially in the buffet. They did not look like they were happy being onboard. First cruise I've seen where the Captain never made an appearance or appeared anywhere around ship. Very few officers were ever in the buffet. Guest services staff were sort of snippy when we needed them to fix and error they had made.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Most of the ship was nice but you couldn't get to main DR from the same deck. You had to go up one deck, then walk down to deck 6.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
It was very typical layout but had lots of drawers and a big closet. Carpet was dirty when we got on and wasn't vacuumed until I shagged a cabin attendant and asked him to vacuum. Bath was sort of shabby and the inside of stool was FILTHY!!
You don't get a check in time. You get a window. You just happened to get there when everyone else did. If the previous cruise is held up for any reason, embarkation is delayed. If you've cruised before, you should know this.
Ruby Princess is one of my favorite ships. Although I have not cruised on her in years, its mostly due to I don't usually cruise on the same ship twice, unless there is no other choice. Sounds mostly to me, you wouldn't have had a good time no matter what, cause you were too busy complaining about it. The only exception to having to go to different deck for dining is in the aft dining room, so if that's the issue, well that's definitely petty, just go to one of the other two.
