Review summary

End of season cruise, and it felt like many of the staff were focused on getting this cruise ended. The food seemed the same — like it was being done half-heartedly. None of that would have mattered so much if our suite had been habitable, as it wasn’t. Final points: Internet was marginal, and there were virtually no electrical outlets to plug into to charge devices. Even in our suite, there were only two outlets. Would have helped to have packed an extension cord with multiple additional outlets. In-suite TV is a joke, and even in the casino they could not show NFL or NCAA football. On the big screen over the pool they did so, but one had to dress warmly. They also did so in one of the restaurants inside, sometimes. Hard to understand why cruise ships remain decades behind when it comes to all matters online.

Embarkation

Old austere terminal, but fortunately weren’t in there long

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Buffet was an assortment of bulk food. Not much of a surprise. But specialty restaurants were minimalist menu’s of mediocre food.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
This old ship didn’t have much to offer. My spouse did the spa and enjoyed that.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Definitely below quality, compared to other cruises. A lot of sales pitches as entertainment.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Aside from supervisors, staff were always eager and conscientious. Supervisors seemed to be mostly eager to repeat “we’re on it!” when a problem was reported, but then have terrible difficulty solving it or even responding back with a status.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Ship was headed immediately after out trip for a month in dry dock. Needs a lot more than that. This ship looks like an apartment building built and lived in for 15 years, so it is esthetically out of date and many carpets are heavily stained. Design is a major issue. We purchased one of the best suites, Lido deck number 107. We wanted the cruise for rest and recovery from long term health issues. We were not made aware that the suite is directly underneath the treadmills in the spa. So from 6a to 10p, it was as if our suite was in the exercise area. We repeatedly had supervisors come to our room to observe, and we even video’d the thump-thump-thumping and the pictures and mirrors in our room literally vibrating to the pounding from above. Yes, we did get in the end a cruise credit. There’s no chance we will ever use that boat and little chance we would do a Princess cruise based on this experience.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
Everything about the cabin was fine except for the aforementioned issue about the treadmills in the spa being on our ceiling.

Ship tip

Hard to give advice since the boat is going into dry dock and may get improved. Avoid L107 suite unless they change the spa layout.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
We were self-disembark so it was relatively smooth other than that the elevators on the ship were of course overwhelmed by all the folks trying to get off with their luggage, electric strollers, wheelchairs, and so on.
