Review summary

We had a great time overall, I just wish they had better entertainment and shows

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Fast and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food on cruise ships lately have declined in taste I would say. They save the really good food for the specialty restaurants that you have to pay a lot of money for. But overall it was fine.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Most of the pools were pretty cold. We loved going to meet up with others for activities like trivia, but they haven’t given out prizes for the winners like they used to. We were really bummed out that they didn’t have a therapy pool in the thermal suite of the spa like other ships have. There were a whole lot of activities on the ship to do with rock climbing walls and waterslides like other cruise ships. Have I guess you have to go on one of them instead if you want that.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We love, comedy shows and magic shows and Broadway musicals that were sorely disappointed on this ship, because the Magic show turned into a musical, and there was only one comedian, who also did a lot of singing along with his comedy so too much singing. They only had one show with dancers and singers, but it didn’t last very long so that was a let down for us compared to what were used to on Norwegian and royal Caribbean.

Children's Programs

We didn’t have any children with us this time

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the staff were wonderful and did a good job and we’re very friendly

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ruby, princess shows its age, but they are constantly replacing carpet and trying to upgrade it so that’s good.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The bed was comfortable and the closet large, but the bathroom was tiny and really hard to take a shower without spilling water outside onto the floor near the toilet and sink because it’s just a skimpy shower curtain. Also, they need an extra chair in the bedroom when there’s two people in there, otherwise someone has to sit on the bed, while the other sits in the chair

Ship tip

Definitely bring extension cords with extra outlets because the room has very few of them

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

Embarked and debarked only

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
Visited two different sites of Mayan ruins, and enjoyed it very much, but it was quite a long ride on the bus, both ways

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
Ocean water was the perfect temperature for swimming. Nice little beach easy to get to at mahogany bay.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
We went to a beach that had a combination of Mayan ruin replicas and dolphins and sea lions, as well as snorkeling it was fun

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had no problems it was easy

Appreciate your detailed feedback. Glad you mostly enjoyed this older ship. None of the ships in the Princess fleet currently has climbing walls. This is a more elegant type of cruising.
