Review summary

My first ever cruise on the Ruby back in 2016 was incredibly memorable! I sailed as a guest of a friend and her family very skeptical of the whole thing. We did have some unfortunate plumbing issues, an obstructed ocean view cabin, and some interpersonal issues along the way (gotta laugh!) but overall it was extremely fun. We met friends from around the world, danced each night in the club, enjoyed several excursions, and got out of the snow and rain for a week in December! Not to mention my love of cruising was born. It was so fun and we did so much that I felt I needed a vacation from my vacation, proving that the young and active can indeed run themselves ragged on Princess!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The most luxurious dining experience I’ve ever had at sea - and we were treated to it nightly. Our family table was doted on with such care by two waiters who took care of our every need. The food options were delicious, the chilled soups and other new to me dishes were a highlight as was the table side pasta. We had rough seas on this sailing, so they were happy to accommodate me with rice and vegetables when the richer entrees seemed too much.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We went everywhere and saw everything! It was truly exhausting trying to keep up. Dancing in the club each night was a highlight, the pool deck was always fun, and the mini golf area was a real treat!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room stewards were very attentive. Unfortunately, we had plumbing issues on this sailing (2016) and they were as helpful as they possibly could be.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Princess makes an absolutely beautiful ship. The sky walkers lounge was so deluxe! Really felt glitzy.

Ship tip

If sailing with a friend, opt for a mini-suite.
