I met some great people and joined them several times for trivia and other shipboard activities. Also had dinner with them in the MDR on three nights. Met many other great cruisers also. And the staff!!!!! The people on this ship work hard to give a great experience. And they are a friendly group. This was a great cruise.

Food and Dining

Food was good. Didn’t eat in any of the specialty restaurants this time and didn’t miss them. The food in the MDR’s, Buffett, Hamburger stand, and Pizza joint was all good. No complaints.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Went to trivia as usual and had a great time. There were some game shows that were fun as well. My favorite one was the Liar’s Club.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
I only went to two shows, not really a big fan of stage shows. The comedian was funny but not the best I’ve ever heard. And went to the “Magic To Do” musical which was okay but I am not interested in seeing it again. But once again I’m not a big stage show enthusiast and others might enjoy those shows more than I did.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
I have read a small number of reviews disparaging the staff of the Ruby Princess. Frankly in those reviews I think any issues were with the reviewer and not the staff. This was my second time on the ship and all the workers I interacted with were great. Yes there were some more friendly than others but I didn’t have one bad experience with staff on both my trips. I look forward to sailing the Ruby again in September.
Ship Quality

I like the layout of the Grand Class ships. The Ruby Princess is kept clean.
Cabin / Stateroom

Well, nothing is perfect. The first time I was on the Ruby the air conditioning in my cabin didn’t work well. This time on the Ruby the cabin air conditioning didn’t work at all. Not a deal breaker. Pointing it out as FYI to others. I’ve read other reviews pointing out the air conditioning issues of the ship.
Ship tip
I did the Ultimate Ship Tour. ($150/person). I think it’s worth doing at least once. Go to guest service desk right away on embarkation day to sign up. We got to go on the bridge which I thought wasn’t included. My favorite parts were seeing the machinery in the laundry area and the room with the mooring ropes and anchor chains. Afterwards you will get some free champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, a cooking apron, picture from the tour, and a bath robe.
I walked around the pier area and took pictures. Then I browsed around the mall across the street from the cruise pier. Then back onto the ship. Next time I’ll do a shore excursion.
I did the lighthouse hike. It was A LOT easier than I thought it would be. I enjoyed the hike up, the views at the top are great, and our tour leader Cristobol was wonderful. He made sure everyone got to the top, give us lots of good information, and is a very nice friendly person.
I saw several wheel chair and walker people. Can’t give any tips. I’d definitely call Princess customer service direct and find out what they will do and won’t do, just to make sure.
I'm sailing on Ruby for the first time in May, and again in September for my birthday, I'm so glad to hear more positives about the staff and ship.
Your cruise sounded wonderful, glad you had fun!
Any tips regarding accessibility? My travelling companion in May is using a walker due to recent injury?
