Review summary
We have been to 10 cruises in the past; via Royal Caribbean, Carnival, NCL and Holland America to Inside Passage Alaska, Panama Canal, All Caribbean Lines, plus, Mexico Baja and Riviera.
Our impressions of Princess was thought to be Higher Category Cruise Line compares to other low to mid range Cruise Companies;
Unfortunately, our FIRST experience with Princess was quite disappointed; In fact, this Cruise was way below our expectation.
Here just listed few things to make our points.
1- This Cruise Ship was rocking so much from the moment it sets sail; it got worse on 4th & 5th day, we both got Sea Sick; we realized the water was very choppy due to high winds, it was very difficult to walk around without holding the railing, we were afraid of falling; however, we did not hear any broadcasts on safety warning, nor wind condition updates; many guests were complaining about it. We NEVER felt this bad with other Cruise Lines, and there was No Communication with guests at all!
2- Found left over food in fridge from previous cruise on 1st day; and the Shower Curtain starts to stink so bad like Mildew on 2nd day; we had to request to clean the Fridge and changed clean curtain.
3- The Formal Dinner was on the 2nd day, it was printed so SMALL on the Daily Paper that we did not even see it until later;
We did ask one Cabin Stewart, he said he too did not see on the paper and told us might not have Formal Dinner on 5 nights Cruises;
It was awkward when we shared table with Formal Dressed guests at Any Time Dining ( this was the only choice upon booking)
We were surprised the One and Only Formal Dinner was not broadcasted on PA nor TV. How could Princess promote Formal Photos?
4- At 12 noon on the 3rd day Cruise, just before ashore to Cabo; there was only one buffet opened; (2nd Buffet due to open in 30 min)
It was very crowded, long lines; with people going every directions which posted Safety Hazards.
5- Many dishes at the Buffet were same everyday; Very few seafood selections.
6- On 4th day at 815pm, Walnuts at Salad Bar were emptied; I asked for refill; 30 mins later, the bowl was still emptied. Buffet scheduled to open till 11pm.
7- We were watching Movie LA LA LAND, the screen disappeared suddenly; no one bother to explain what happened. Many guests waited; after a while, we all left in disappointment of not knowing the ending.
8- What happened to the Lobster Dinner on Cruise Ship? There was no Lobster Dinner night on this Cruise; and it was not even on the Menu of Specialty Dinning such as Crab Shack Seafood Resturant that requires guests to pay additional fee.
9- Evening Entertainments held at the Princess Theater was supposed to be the Main Show every night, but, it was cheaply planned. There was no Welcome production Show except one man Comedy on the 1st night. We never met Ship Captain, nor other Ship officials on stage like other Cruise Ships did. There was no Farewell Show either, except Musical Magic performance. No one thanks guests on board and no one wish guests a safe journey home.
The only thing good about Princess was Embark and Disembark process were pretty quick and easy;
Other than that, this Cruise was worse than Carnival, which we thought were lower category than Princess.
And now, we are really concerned about our next Princess Cruise to North Bound Alaska for next month; which was paid in full and non refundable if cancelled.
