Review summary

This was my first cruise. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best score, I would give the waitstaff and housekeeping staff a 10. I would rate the food as a 7. I would rate the shops (perfume, jewelry, etc.) on the ship as a 2. The theater venues are too small compared to the number of passengers on the ship and it's often impossible to get a seat at an evening performance. Princess nickel and dimes you death. Even hot chocolate is not free. If  I cruise again, it will likely be with a different cruise lines for the sake of comparison.

We have cruised Smith several and will stick with Princess. We bought a coffee card and it worked perfectly for us coffee drinkrs. We usually had an afternoon Cappuccino and we could get unlimited coffee. I got a bottle of wine at dinner that lasted most of the Cruise and we went to happy hour each day. We had a $100. Cruise credit and out bill at the end was just over $50. much better then usual. Of course, we drink less now ...lol. Heavy drinking can cause quite a shock on the last day.

From my experience we wasted too much time and money shopping around... Back to Princess..Leaving February 14 th on the Ruby to Hawaii. Entertainment is best, specialty restaurants are best, service with a smile is superior to the rest. Cruise price was lower and we always know our bill at the end will be at least the cost of one fare. So we save it before we go and pay for what we enjoy!

carnival does not nickle and dime you to death..but on a lighter note we pay our gratuities up front except for drinks. Nothing is charged to us but drinks and what we buy in the shops on bosrd.
