Review summary

Wonderful winter getaway which we would definitely do again!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We found out that we LOVE Club Class and it was so worth it for us. The benefits started at embarkation which allowed us to board the ship early which also allowed us to be first in line for some of the things we wanted to sign up for such as the Ultimate Ship Tour and the Sanctuary.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We absolutely loved Club Class dining. We never had to wait to be seated and the service was extraordinary. The food and extra Club Class menu items were very good!! Our servers were fantastic - even to the point where when my husband ordered the seafood skewer, our server brought him a steak in addition to his seafood skewer because our server knew that my husband usually likes his steak!

Onboard Activities

Can’t say enough about the Ultimate Ship Tour! They only do it once per cruise and only 14 people on the tour so sign up early!! It was a three hour tour of the inner workings of the ship including the medical center, the theater, the laundry, the galley, the anchor, the engineers, and the bridge. We met the captain and had photos taken. The views from the bridge are extraordinary. I probably wouldn’t take the Ultimate Ship Tour again, but it was definitely worth doing once!! Oh, also they give you swag - got an apron and Princess robe among other things. Our tour was $150 per person and about three hours long. We also really LOVED the Sanctuary! So relaxing and afternoon tea was amazing. I would take a whole cruise just to spend time in the Sanctuary!

Entertainment

The comedian AJ Jamal was hilarious. We also really enjoyed Cheaza and her Whitney Houston tribute.

Service and Staff

Our room steward Eugenio was very good. Friendly but unobtrusive. He did everything we needed before we had to ask.

Absolutely tremendous. Loved the mini-suite and adding Club Class is even better. Also we were in the area where our balcony was a little bit bigger than some.

Ship tip

Take the Ultimate Ship Tour if you’ve never done it before. Book right when you get on the ship. Also book the Sanctuary. You won’t be disappointed.

Ports of call

Mazatlan, Mexico

We took the Blue Line walking tour and also walked to the Cathedral and the Market and then walked to the beach area to see the cliff divers. We did everything walking and it was a great day. I really liked Mazatlán! Seemed much more authentic than Cabo. I’m sure not everyone could walk that far but we enjoyed it and feel that it offset how much we were eating and drinking!!

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

My husband’s uncle lives in nearby Bucerias. So they picked us up and we saw a much more authentic Mexico. Very, very cool town and I would highly recommend. It was about 25 minutes away from Puerto Vallarta.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Took a water taxi to the arch and also to Médano beach. Way too many beach peddlers on the beach. I actually couldn’t wait to get back on the ship. The views are tremendous but you can see those from the ship.

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

Easy to get to the port. We spent the night at the Doubletree and took the hotel shuttle.

Very easy. Get a porter and tip them!!! We spent so much less time in line than people who went through without porters. I don’t know why that works or what the secret is but just do it. Shhhh...don’t tell!!
