Review summary

I enjoyed spending my Christmas holiday on the Royal Princess overall. The ship was beautiful, the food and service were good, and the entertainment was good. I would take Princess again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It took just a couple of minutes for us to board after checking in our luggage. Very pleased.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Had consistently good meals in the dining rooms. The food in the buffet was just OK, but the variety was good. It could also be difficult to find a table during busy times there.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The Seawalk was a neat feature. The Seaview bar on the opposite side was a great place to hang out on the nicer days. I was a little bored the last sea day.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
On Christmas Eve the captain, officers, and some other crew members sang carols in the Piazza and it was really cute. The next day Santa came and gave presents to the kids onboard. All of the musicians and singers were fantastic.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the staff were friendly and professional. We always came back to a nice and clean cabin. Room service was a bit slow.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The Royal is a beautiful ship. She was clean and in good condition. There was always someone going around tidying up. Elevators were hard to get. One of the promenade decks often smelled of sewage.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Comfortable and clean. It only had two outlets. If there is a third guest using the sofa bed it will block access to the fridge when it's unfolded.

Ship tip

Make reservations for specialty dining early because they were fully booked by the third day.

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

3 out of 5
Cabo is a boring tourist trap, but good for sightseeing and the rocks are beautiful.

Mazatlan, Mexico

4 out of 5
Hike up to El Faro lighthouse was fun. You have to find the place that sells the coconut marshmallows they were AMAZING and I don't even like marshmallows.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

4 out of 5
Very pretty and clean looking town.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
There was a lot of sitting around but it seemed organized and the crew were helpful. They had free tea and coffee while you waited.
