While the start was rocky (orders not delivered for arrival, broke my suitcase, lackluster room steward and stinky room) we did enjoy Princess (our first Princess). While a huge ship, it never felt overly crowded. However we are late sleepers and never emerged til around noon on sea days. Loved the movies under the stars by pool! We usually cruise with Holland America which is consistently awesome in all aspects so Princess doesn't provide the same service but ship is double in size.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
smooth and easy at port even though Drop off was not marked well. Somewhere between porters cart amd my room 2 of my bag's 4 wheels were torn off! Princess guest services really didnt give a toss.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food variety and taste was very good.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Lots of activities so ships passengers were spread out well. We never had a problem getting a pool chair albeit maybe not right by pool but plenty on decks 16 and 17.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Excellent. The lead women singers (afro-american) were Broadway quality. They had pipes! Comedian AJ Khalid was hilarious and piano player Tom Franek while not the best singer blew us away with his playing.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
Teen club was amazing...they even have their own skee ball machines, ping pong table, fuse ball, ps4, wii, and sundeck with hot tub!
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Staff overall are good but some just look downright tired. Probably the most lackluster room steward we have ever had. Guest services people are horrible and uncaring. When I brought my broken suitcase to them they acted as if they didn't care at all. Typed their report into computer with no "I'm sorry for this happening". I'm in the service industry and I was shocked at their dismissiness.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Ship always was clean and neat!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Mini suites are spacious and sofa bed is super comfortable. No outlets or USB by bed. Bring 15 foot extension cord. oom's AC did not cool down past 73°. We like it around 69° at night especially under their warm duvets. Our room also had a very strong body smell from previous pax. We could open balcony doors and cabin door to air out room which helped. I ordered Prosecco bottle and choc dipped strawberries for arrival for our room and a friend. Was not there on arrival. Strawberries came after our dinner and they kept telling ua to call room service for the Prosecco but noone answers room service phone 1st or 2nd day. Finally got bottle at end of 2nd day so don't bother ordering anything for arrival!
Ship tip
Wi-Fi if the best of any cruise weve been on. their Ocean Compass app is nice but chat function is horrible because no ring to let u know when someone has written. Use WhatsApp. We did 4 device for 7 days for $104 so very reasonably priced.
Being a tender boat stop tide was too rough so Captain said it wasn't safe to tender on/off ship. shocked that no pier to dock in Cabo with all the cruise lines that stop there!
We did the Blue Agave Tequila Farm and La Noria village tour. Saw how tequila is made and tasted a lot! Fantastic. Only 7 in our group. Wonderful lunch in La Noria and this town also is known for their leather workers.
Booked Razr and waterfall tour. Totally fun. While we would have preferred more time swimming at waterfall vs sitting 1:10 mins at bar/food b4 departure it was a great time. If u plan to jump off rocks at waterfall which me, my husband and 13 yr old son did about 8 times, make sure you are strong swimmers since current is very strong.
We are regular Princess cruisers. Hope you received their after-cruise survey to communicate these issues to them. We may go back to Celebrity after some issues on last couple of Princess cruises unless they make some changes. I agree about the tired acting staff.
Good review. It's disappointing that the service on arrival & room condition/steward were not up to standard. Sounds like an aberration from Princess usual high standards but I'm glad you like the entertainment and ship style.
