Review summary

Royal Princess is a step up from most of the Princess fleet. Lovely to look at. This itinerary is not for pool lovers. The weather is cool, but lovely. The ports are filled with history. Excursions are a must! Cruise Director, Matt O'Brien, is the best we have ever experienced! We hope we find him again!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food has been downgraded, but is still pretty good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Trivia, Port Lectures, Line Dancing, Princess Pop Choir, shopping

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Not into comedians, ventriloquists, magicians; productions shows good, but not as good as Royal or Disney; weak storylines

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Poor service at Vines and Alfredos and Concerto Dining Room. Kitchen was very slow. Room steward was great! Cruise Director Matt O'Brien was the best we've ever experienced! Brilliant!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Allegro Dining Room is hidden and hard to get to. Areas were clean. Princess Live area is a great addition. Gelato area was a waste of space. Hand washing in public areas was poor; only cold water.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was a handicapped room. It was fine, except for the bed - it was soft and lumpy; the new Princess bed was not yet installed; shower gel and shampoo were bad; bring your own

Ship tip

Long ship; lots of walking

Agree with the standard shower stuff -shudder- . Surprised at the bed, thought the whole fleet had changed over. Glad to hear the trip was great otherwise. 368 days until the Sea of Cortez.

My husband and I did a 10 day cruise on Royal Princess two years ago. Food was ghastly, poor entertainment, ratty bath towels that were frayed and had holes in them. Every day we asked for better linens and every day got the same ones. A far cry from their advertised Egyptian cotton linens. Won’t be back.
