Review summary

We had a great time. We loved the ports, the food, and the ship was huge and beautiful. There weren't many families, but fortunately our daughter made a few friends. Lots of elderly people on the ship. The photo gallery was very outdated. On the Disney ships it's all digital and very easy to find your room folder with ALL of your photos in it. I spent hours searching for our photos the next to last day. The service could be better overall.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It was great because we arrived early and were able to almost walk right on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was excellent! Compared to the Disney ships, we liked it much better.

Sabatini's

5 out of 5

We absolutely loved going to Sabatini's for breakfast! It was nice to sit and be served by the wonderful staff and have a mimosa, as opposed to fighting the crowds at Horizons. The food was great, too!

Wheelhouse Bar

5 out of 5

Trevor was amazing. He always smiled and remembered what we like to drink. We loved the atmosphere of Wheelhouse, and it was not too far from the aft elevators where we needed to go to get to our room.

Alfredo's Pizzeria

4 out of 5

The pizza was outstanding! The only thing that I didn't like was they kept telling us the "cheese" pizza was the "margarita" pizza. Margarita pizza has basil and tomatoes on it....

Concerto Dining Room

5 out of 5

The food was outstanding in this restaurant. Because we were club class we always walked right in. Aleksander and Leonor were such a pleasure! They took excellent care of us, and the coffee was delicious!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The pools were nice, but there weren't any slides or activities for the kids.

Lotus Spa

4 out of 5

The only reason I don't give "Excellent" is the ladies room in the spa seemed like an afterthought. It would be nice if there were more places to sit, and amenities for showering and dressing after a treatment. My husband and I both had two treatments and they were wonderful, except for the usual "sales pitch" at the end trying to sell us products, but that's on any ship, any cruise line.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Loved the Colors show and the comedian!

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Our daughter loved that the ages were split, and she loved the crafts.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
We were disappointed in a lot of the service we received (or lack thereof). You had to chase someone down to get a drink from your chair at the pool. No one ever asked if we wanted anything until the very last day, one person asked once. Our room steward didn't leave us one towel animal for the entire 10 days, and he was just ok. The concierge is pretty much a joke. They are there for a few hours in the morning, and a few in the evening, and you have to kind of chase them down. When we would approach some of the bars, it seemed we were an annoyance to the staff at times. There doesn't seem to be much motivation for them to go out of their way.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The design of the ship was awesome. The cleanliness? Not so much. We never saw anyone cleaning. On the Disney ships (we've been on 10 cruises with them) there is ALWAYS someone in every bathroom cleaning, and you see them wiping down the railings, elevators, etc. Absolutely didn't see one person cleaning on the Royal Princess, hence a LOT of people got sick on our cruise. We decided not to eat from any buffet because we were afraid of the germs. No one ever squeegeed the pool decks, so there were always puddles of water everywhere. It was disappointing.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The size was smaller than we are used to, the cleanliness was great, the balcony was great, but only one toilet was difficult, and not much storage space at all.

Ship tip

If you don't like elderly people, don't go. If you have kids, pray there are other kids on the ship.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
We had a bungalow, which was nice, but no amenities. We thought we would at least get bottled water. It was also very small. The weather was perfect, so we didn't use it much.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Did not visit port

Been there, done that!

Fort-De-France, Martinique Did not visit port

It was raining.

St. George's, Grenada

We did a snorkeling/beach excursion, and it was good! I would like to have seen more of the island itself, so hopefully we will get to go back.

Bonaire, Netherlands Special Municipality

4 out of 5
Loved our glass bottom kayak tour! The beach was very rocky, so it was hard to go in to snorkel. It would have been nice if they had mentioned to bring water shoes to this excursion

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
We swam with the dolphins and it was AMAZING! Loved the port. Very clean, lots of cafes and restaurants right off the ship. Beautiful! Hope we get to go back!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth and painless!
