Ship too big

Sail Date: August 19, 2014

Room Type: Balcony

The Royal Princess is a beautiful vessel, however it is too big for our idea of a great cruise.  It is so big that it could not dock anywhere near our port stop in Stockholm.  There were numerous occasions when the elevators were too few and slow to que.

It was also very crowded each morning in the lido dining areas as nearly all 4000 passengers were trying to have breakfast at the same time.  There was a maze of of areas to go through for food and by the time you got your food and then found a vacant table your food was cold.  It is also necessary to select a cabin close to mid ship or else it could take 10-15 minutes of walking to get to the dining rooms or to the theater.  Princess should rethink bigger is better concept

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
Used to be wowed by the food but not this time
Cabin / Stateroom
Be sure to get a cabin near mid ship
Service and Staff
Cabin and dining staff were awesome
Entertainment
Good but not dazzling
Onboard Activities
Destinations and Excursions
Except for Aarhus and Stockholm
Copenhagen, Denmark
Copenhagen is a good city to add on extra days either pre or post cruise
Oslo, Norway
Good things to see on this stop and easy to do on your own
Arhus, Denmark
Go ashore on your own here
Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany
Tallinn, Estonia
A very pleasant surprise at this stop
St. Petersburg, Russian Federation
A must on this trip
Helsinki, Finland
Very easy to go ashore on your own here
Stockholm, Sweden
Must see the Vasa museum

Tip

Be sure to get a cabin near midship and don't expect much for the short day and long travel time to Stockholm. All the other port stops were terrific !
