Being of Viking descent, this was very interesting and on our bucket list. Sailing above the Artic Circle was nice and certifying it was a nice touch.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The ship needed some maintenance. The veteran's meeting was a nice touch and would be nice on future cruises. The guest laundries on a cruise this long were a big plus. The food and staff was amazing. The Explore 4 package was great. Pat Klowas' from was outstanding to work with on the cruise dtails, he was always ultra responsive. The beverage package through Explore Four was awesome.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
More bingo on a long cruise like this would have been nice. Free internet or an unlimited internet package would be a huge plus. Many other cruise lines are doing this and HAL will loose business if it doesn't switch to this mode.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The entertainment on this cruise wasn't as good as on previous HAL cruises.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Simply wonderful for the rooms, food and beverage.
The disembarkation for the excursions was a total goat rope. Assigning individual tenders wasn't done and it was very disorganized. Go back to the old way of doing this.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Ship desperately needs extensive dry dock maintenance. It was clean. It would suggest as on previous cruises, the food service staff in the lido serve the food as on previous HAL cruises. There is less chance for the spread of viruses--lots of coughing on this cruise.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Spacious. Some plain wire hangers would help give more closet space vs the wooden ones.
Ship tip
There is on board self service laundry. This fact was hard to verify. Adding a Tmirid would be huge plus.
Staying at the Hilton Central was wonderful and reasonable the night before the cruise. To get from Schipol to the Rotterdam Central train station on an intercity express train was easy and approximately 20€.
Using the Bergen one day card gave us several discounts at museums, the funicular, free transportation on busses and trains, free entry to the Fanthof Stabe Kirche. Have it mailed to your house before departure. The .Starbucks at the end of the cruise pier has freeinternet and free bathrooms.
The abandoned village of Hysteri was great! The local rhubarb snackand hot tea were nice on a drizzly day. The one hour boat ride to get there was impressive.
