Review summary

We sailed on Uniworld's River Baroness from Paris to Normandy. The ship was well appointed with nice monogrammed linens. The public areas (lounge and dining room) seemed like an intimate club. We had a full house with 121 guests and this seemed like the biggest difference between this cruise and others we have been on. There were no long lines for anything. Big ships always seem like a cattle call when its time to get on or off the ship and during meal times. Not on Uniworld! I'm not sure if we will ever be happy on a big ship again after this wonderful experience! The crew spoke English very well so there was never a time when we had a language problem. The ship was very clean and the staff took pride in their work. Every meal was wonderful. The evening dinners looked as good as they tasted. The presentation of the meals was incredible; just beautiful.

I am currently in France on a Vantage River Cruise.  Yesterday we were in Giverny.  I toured Monet house, his beautiful gardens and his studio - now a well stocked gift shop.  I left a big donation there.  Now I know what inspired his paintings.  I spent several hours there.

River cruises are a good alternative to mega cruise ships.  I like both.  I do prefer the entertainment on the larger ships but I like being close to land on the river cruises.  I like that almost everything is included even wine & beer on the river cruises.
