Review summary

The whole experience was very good. My beef is that I shouldn't have to pay so much for wifi service. If I check into a hotel, it is included. Charging me more for a week on the ship than my provider at home for a month is outrageous. I understand the cruise line is in business to make money, but I paid over 5000 dollars for a balcony room, before other amenities. Wifi should be included.

You can normally find free WiFi at ports. There is no need to buy their package.

Why are you complaining about the price of WiFi now? Didn’t you research it before getting on the ship to order it?

Unfortunately, the WIFI at sea uses satellites not owned by the cruise lines but rather owned by maritime communications companies. This is because they cost hundreds of millions of dollars even billions in some cases. Those companies include Satcom Global, Inmarsat, Intellian, Fleet One... etc...To make it even remotely affordable, they rent bandwidth from the satellite owners. The cheapest connections will always be onshore where many restaurants, attractions, and other facilities offer complimentary WIFI.

Wi fi at sea is not routed the same as it is on land based masts it has to go via sattalite which costs. Sorry you dont understand the technical side
