Review summary

This was our first cruise and our honeymoon. We had an amazing time and just wished it would never end.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had some trouble in Venice, because of a lost passport, but the great staff at the port helped us a lot to resolve the issue.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate at the main dining room, the Windjammer and Chop's Grille and we enjoyed all of it. The main dining room offered food that was slightly better than the Windjammer, there however was always a nice selection and the food was very good, too. On the formal night the selection at the Buffet seemed a little slim though. Eating at Chop's Grille was fantastic and is highly recommended for special occasions or as a treat.

Windjammer Cafe

5 out of 5

The layout of the restaurant was very convenient and there usually was a really good selection of food. In the evening this was a great spot for a more quiet and relaxed dinner.

Viking Crown Lounge

5 out of 5

There are really great views from this venue.

Chop's Grille

5 out of 5

Eating here was great, the food was fantastic and our waiter was perfect.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Since this is a smaller ship there were not always huge amounts of activities going on, but there usually was something fun somewhere. Some activities like Bingo seemed a bit overpriced though.

Logo Souvenir Shop

3 out of 5

The prices seemed a bit high for the standard merchandise here, and the "special deal" items seemed to be very low quality.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The production shows were varied and of high quality. They had a guest band do a concert on one evening which was amazing. Throughout the ship they had different bands, all of which were quite good too. And our cruise director was great, all the shows and activities he hosted were a blast.

Broadway Theater

5 out of 5

This was a nice venue with comfortable seats and good views of the stage

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service team throughout the ship was super friendly and attentive.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship is a bit older which was noticable in some areas. For example the design and layout in some lounges felt a bit outdated and some pieces of furniture were a bit worn. But overall she is kept in very good shape, and the smaller size helps to make everything feel familiar and like home very quickly. The ship was very clean and tidy everywhere.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We really liked this cabin, the size was good, and there was plenty of storage space and enough power sockets (two American and two European). The location was also pretty good and there were no long walks anywhere. However it was very close to the port and tender boat exit so in the morning it sometimes was a bit noisy when the crew prepared the exit.

Ship tip

Give this smaller and older ships a chance! We had great time on this more intimate ship which still offers many great features! (like a sauna that is included in the price and great views of the ocean everywhere.)

Ports of call

Venice, Italy

5 out of 5
We did not have enough time here, but the city was amazing and seemed to be exactly like you imagine it to be.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

5 out of 5
Absolutely amazing old town, and very easy to get to with public transport from the port. (When we were there it turned out the busses were actually free in the evening, so it might be worth checking that out when you make a stop here)

Kotor, Montenegro

5 out of 5
This city was very beautiful and full of character. And also full of cute cats. We did not make the climb up to the castle, but the city itself was fun to explore, too.

Naples, Italy

4 out of 5
We did a local bus tour here which was interesting and had an amazing pizza (try Pomodoro Rosso by the waterfront). However the city was also incredibly full of cars and their exhaust fumes which was not so great for exploring on foot.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
We stayed in Civitavecchia and did not go on the tour to the Rome. And Civitavecchia is actually a nice little town by the sea, that deserves a visit, too. There are some roman ruins, old churches and fortresses and a typical Italian market. Then there is also a very nice promenade by the sea and of course opportunities to get amazing gelato. So If you don't feel like going on a stressful trip to Rome, why not give this underrated town a chance.

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
This was an amazing city to explore, we had two days and that was not enough by far. The Sagrada Familia is incredible and a unique experience even if you have seen many other cathedrals. There would be just way too much to write about Barcelona here, so I will just reiterate that it is truly amazing and absolutely worth an extended visit.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was quite good, the stop for the shuttle bus could have been better marked though (It was sort of on the side of the main bus parking space)
