Review summary

Wasn't our best. Everything we loved on Sereande of the seas except the crew had dropped in quality. RC used to give good info on local transport and now it was all about their shuttles, which always cost more than the local transport. getting off the ship on first stop were forced to wait until all the paying people were off. We didn't stop at CocoCay, no compensation , not even a free drink. Worst was lying about the CBP was the reason we were let on disembarking, when the truth from CBP was that they didn't get the bags off on time, and there people picked who leaves and when.

Embarkation

Always very easy in Barcelona, regardless of ship we take. This is trip 11.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The majority of the ships facilities were fine. The gym was much too small to handle the crowd. They also kick 8 people off the floor in the middle of our workouts, so they could give a class to 3 people ( payer's always first). The cost of the wine pkg. has doubled since last cruise, selection limited to 5 wines and only 1 of each. The main dining room for breakfast was bad, 42 min. wait for French Toast, assured that was an anomaly, however 5 other people told me they had the same problem. Head Waiter said to let them know next day and it would not be repeated. It wasn't, it took 57 min. to get 3 cold pancakes. Spoke again to H.W. told me same thing, 10 people told me they had the same problem. I did not return for rest of voyage. Buffet was fine.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The crew dance classes were so loud on the pool deck we had to leave. As stated before the gym was to small.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Jimmy hopper, The Beateles, The juggler were great the rest ok. the ship band and diners were poor.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward Raffy Vidad, was terrific. Our dinner waiters Table 36, FNU and Kerrsy were fun and very good.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
this was similar to Serenade of seas, good size nice design, good cabin, good elevators and plenty of them. The centrum acoustics were terrible and always to loud. The theater was very comfortable. The pool area was large and plenty of chairs.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Nice overall, but bed was a little small, too thin.

Ship tip

Don't stop in Tampa, horror show leaving the ship. Buy the drink pkg. the wine deal is awful.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island) Did not visit port

they refused to stop, said it was to rough, I took a movie of no waves. Took boats in Nice with bigger waves and wind , had no problems. ????

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Wine 1/2, no info, gym k out small, 52 minutes wait for 2 French toast, music too loud, Meg fall no follow up, no warning, This was our favorite cruise line. We are platinum + members and have just been treated like dirt. Because of the unfairness of departure we spent 3 hours in customs line and missed our flight. We were to go off at 8:08, left at 9:30 as #3 and watched # 8 & 9 leave before us. We now need to wait 7 hours to get home and have no connection from the airport to home. Thank for destroying our 14 days home. The rotten end to a much depleted cruise, really question a return. So sad to watch RC demise. My wife tried 3 times to get a reason as to why our line was not moving, and she was threatened with arrest. I'm a diabetic and my blood sugar jumped to 150 do to stress I was under, and I nearly passed out and the women did not care.

Was on the same cruise. Service in mdr at dinner was outstanding. We never went for breakfast to the mdr. Always went to windjammer for that and never had any problems getting a table. Food was very good and waiters not only cleaned tables but also offered any help with drinks, icecream, coffee and and and.... Went to the gym several times and never had any trouble with too many people there. Have to say that it would never come to my mind to stop the time until the waiter brings the order. We had some problems with our stateroom. We complained at guest services. They couldn’t solve the problem but we got a refund for the inconvenience. So that’s ok to us. I do agree with you that the debarkation was an absolute desaster. We were scheduled to leave the ship at 10:30 am and eventually debarked at 2 pm. We were not in a hurry like you so that was not that big problem. They let us go to windjammer for lunch. We all appreciated that. It was so sad that they cancelled coco cay. It was the most desirable port on that cruise. Unfortunately nobody can change the weather. Maybe they could have changed the itinerary to another port - maybe not; who knows? But it was absolutely obvious that tendering was not possible that day. I also agree with you that the overall experience was a little disappointing in comparison to other cruises with royal even on the same ship. Nevertheless I would and will cruise with them again.
