Not a great value for the monet by amav

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Alaska

Food and service were excellent. Regatta is old and not very spacious. Entertainment was average and venue very poor. Lounge was all on one level and although intimate it was hard to see entertainers from the majority of the seats. Limited music options. Piano player was excellent but classical group was not good and there were no other options. Best part of cruise was quality and variety of food in all restaurants.

Relaxing Cruise! by kmartmey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Bermuda

Our first on Oceania, we liked the Miami cruise to Bermuda which saved us Floridians airfare & time from more typical departure ports from New England. We absolutely loved Charleston & Bermuda, but stayed on board for Port Canaveral & Nassau as we've been there numerous times & we wanted to enjoy the mid-size ship'srelaxing pool. The pool deck area is somewhat small but beautiful & spa-like, with terry-cloth covered chairs that aren't jammed together like most cruises & hotels. The menus were amazing but the meals in the Grand wasn't typically served hot so we often opted for the wonderful buffer (grilled lobsters, lamb chops, etc.). Outstanding procedures to ensure cleanliness & prevent norovirus. Overall, just what we had hoped for! And yes, Oceania caters to an older market which worked for us (60). There are NO children's activities & therefore few kids on board ANN no photographers annoying you. A bit pricier upfront costs but many items included such as specialty coffees, sodas, bathrobe & slippers, and internet package.

Excellent food; service uneven. by niccimjb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

the itinerary was good, as promised.  The food was excellent, as promised.  The service, however, was unpredictable.  From stateroom to dining room it ranged from excellent to poor.

our bed was slanted and never fixed for the entire cruise.  Our air conditioning was only fixed on day 14.  Some waiters and sommeliers were attentive and informed while one bar waiter did not know what Tempranillo was and just brought a different red wine, saying it is a red wine.

specialty restaurants excellent on all levels

Disappointing by mlroit1945

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Ancient Legends is clearly a misnomer.  The archaeological sites were often long bus trips from the port leaving limited time to explore the "ancient legends."  Riding back and forth on a bus full of people for  an hour or more to a site is disappointing. The highlight of this trip was the passage through the Panama Canal . It was fascinating but hardly ancient.

The Regatta is an older Oceania ship. We had an expensive suite that was worn and dusty. The suite was also above the lounge (which no one warned us about) so we had to listen to the the band rehearsing during the day and playing at night. Listening to a thumping base and hard hitting drums does not make for a quiet relaxing cruise.

Amazon River cruise by Charleycruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Caribbean

Our favorite part of the cruise was the selection of ports we visited. We were able to experience the large cities as well as the small villages that make up the vast Amazon basin.

The ship provided excellent food and  service. We were surprised at the average age of guests on this cruise. Most were very old and many had difficulty moving around because of health issues. We hadn't experienced this before on Oceania. We would have preferred a mix of young and old, especially since a number of passengers were coughing and sneezing by the end of the cruise.

We may try a different cruise line next time.

Great cruise with wonderful food and service! by Ginniecat

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Caribbean

Oceania had a terrific itinerary - food was superb and service was exceptional.

I would have liked more enrichment lectures as the sea days seemed long, especially toward the end of the voyage. Thankfully I am a bridge player and the instructors were terrific!

Mediocre experience by restets

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Mexico

Shore excursions overpriced.

We took "city highlight" tours of Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.

Each cost $99 for an approximately 4 hour tour.  In each case we were taken to a jewelry store.  Not exactly a highlight of any city.  In Mazatlan other tour guides escorted their groups to places and gave talks about the location.  Ours just pointed to where places were & we walked there ourselves.  In Puerto Vallarta our guide was very difficult to understand with her heavy accent.  Granted these issues don't reflect on Oceania but they were part of our experience.

Staff was generally very friendly and helpful.

Food was mediocre at best.  I don't know how they can call themselves a foodie lovers cruise.

The buffet was extremely disorganized.  There were many different 'stations' where the staff would serve you.  There were no trays to carry your dishes and limited space to put your plate down while being served something else.  People didn't know where to stand to ask for food.  Some items weren't labeled so if it had a cover over it you didn't know what it was.  As people passed thru the area they had difficulty getting by the groups of people waiting to be served.  Once you got your food it tended to get cold before you could find a seat.

The dining room service was good.  Our waiter (Eugene from the Phillipines) was easy to understand and made some very helpful suggestions for additions to our meal that weren't on the menu.  We always asked for a table with him.

Afternoon tea was another food opportunity.  There was one day they had strudel but where we were sitting we didn't see it and we weren't offered any by the servers.  Another day they had cheesecakes.  There were 5 different kinds.  None were to our liking.

Specialty restaurants were reservation only.  We couldn't get one when we tried.

They offered what was supposed to be gelato but it was grainy and low quality.

They had a free specialty coffe bar (free as long as you didn't want liquor in it) which made good lattes and iced coffees.

The main shows in the evening generally started at 9:30 P.M.  Too late for us so we never went to any.  They showed highlights of them on the cabin TV.  What we saw made us glad we missed them.

Wee had cabin 3029 on the lowest passenger deck.  It was an average size ocean view with a small porthole.  No complaints about it.  Our cabin steward was Sandip and he did a very good job taking care of things.

This was our first (and probably the last) time we'll cruise with Oceania.

Great birthday celebration! by dmassanari

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Caribbean

Dock near the center of attractions in almost every port. Small friendly ship with approximately 1 staff member per 4 guests. Many were greeting us by name by the second or third day. Nice to. It have to pay for every sofa or espresso!  And the food was fantastic!  Particularly in the complimentary specialty restaurant, Toscana!

Excellent food and attentive staff by janetmcdonalds

The food.  We would recommend to others---at a different time of year.  Rocky seas, cloudy weather.  Cocktails and wines very expensive---overpriced for international waters.

Great itinerary- best food on the seas by rmurray

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Widely varied itinerary. Superb destinations desk (thanks Antonia and Luis!). The food is "over the top"!  The superb performers have great personalities and love to stop and talk.  We were honored to be guests of the staff captain and environmental officer for dinner- very gracious.

Great Cruise by pat92101

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: North America

The Regatta is a wonderful ship.  The cabin service is superb.  We had great meals and had a choice of five locations.  The service in all dining locations is top notch.

The whole staff is helpful.

We we had great food, all sorts of wonderful choices.  The desserts were great and the afternoon tea should not be missed.

The captain was wonderful as was the cruise director.  The communication was excelltbe.

canada is wonderful and we had perfect weather throughout the trip.

I highly recommend Oceania. It is a cruise for adults, no children were onboard.

This is was our 7th cruise on Oceania and we have two more booked.

The Cruise by randykg528

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Alaska

We were both very pleased with the cruise, all of the amenities, the crew, the food and entertainment, after seven great days on the cruise, we had to wait 5 hours at the Seattle airport for our flight back to Los Angeles, (Oceania booked our flights) that was a bad ending to a great cruise!

Where Cruise Directors go to die by corcomi1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: South America

The boarding luggage procedure at Rio was a disaster. No available porters and when we found the place were we could give our bags they told us we couldn't drop them because they were to big. Really?

the gangway were stairs so if you needed assistance, too bad.

The ship is well mantained but it's showing it age. Our room is spacious but there are no electrical outlets on the bedside unless you call engineering to install a transformer to I could connect the Cpap machine. Refrigerator is stocked with water and soft drinks and are

complimentary. Bathroom has shower curtain with tends to drip water

to the bathroom floor. Hair drier in bathroom is from the 90tys but

there is another portable one. Our was broken but the steward

promptly replaced it. Room is quiet and the air conditioner is great.

Beds are great and we got good night sleeps

internet cost 600 dollars for 20 days and worst than dial up. RCCL is the way to go if that is important.

Do NOT serve yourself at the buffet lines. That's a no-no with Oceania. I'm ok with that because you don't handle the serving spoons other guest have used before you and avoid catching viruses. It also keeps you in check in putting too much food on your plate

Free water available before going on an excursion not like some cruise lines that charge 4.95 a bottle. ( RCCL)

The daily Current has good info and you also get a daily 4 page newsletter with the world news sports and weather. Tv has 3 channels with up to day free movies and change everyday. Nice touch and also a list is provided of an extensive video CDs to check out and watch in your room. Room service is 24 hours and great menu and is also free.

Turn down every night includes chocolate on the bed and ice in the bucket. Towels are fluffy and

Upscale service, food, and talks. by lindahikes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: South America

We were very impressed with the service on Oceania.  My special dietary requests were handled the very best ever.  We enjoyed the fish dishes and tried to have some daily, either at lunch or dinner.  Don Klein gave very detailed talks about the Amazon and that made the trip much more interesting.  I would encourage people that are between 60 and 85 to choose Oceania.

Personal review by weilmarianne

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Regatta / Destination: South America

The itinerary was excellent.   The lectures were superb.   Unfortunately there was a ship health issue which seemed to dominate the crew's time and attention.   Missed the social activities of cooking demonstration, gatherings for captain's party, party for frequent Oceania travelers, afternoon tea served in Horizons etc.   We will check number of sea days on future trips.   This cruise had too many for us particularly with the extra day when we couldn't land in the Falklands.

Lima-Buenos Aires 2016 by cbolte3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: South America

Oceana Marketing Department missed opportunities that would have elevated sailors satisfaction substantially. Cruise Director was given no leeway in doing anything special, e.g., hiring a local Argentina couple as one evening's entertainment to demonstrate dancing the Tango. This was easy to do and would have cost minimal.
