A Stunning Itinerary by RogerM3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Oceania line is a luxury line of only 3 ships. The Regatta is one of them. We had a wonderful cruise with a stunning itinerary. The food and service are great. We went to such hard to get to places as Virgin Gorda, St. Barts, Turks & Caicos, and Samana (Dominican Republic). The clientele on the ship is very genteel, educated, and refined. The staff has a policy, "nothing is impossible". The only thing we don't like about Oceania is their overpriced and antiquated Internet system. We used Internet cafes on islands.

Oceania has a long way to go! by GaleM

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Regatta / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

My sister and I and our two youngest daughters went on the Oceania Regatta Cruise last November. The ports of call were well chosen and fascinating. We embarked from Barcelona and went on to Rome, Amalfi, Sorrento, Sicily, Tunisia, Gibraltar and Casablanca. The food was excellent, boasting a gourmet program created by Jacques Pipen, and since we had booked the Butler Suite, our service was equally first class. I was appalled, however, at the maintenance issues we encountered on this trip including our spa tub overflowing our first night aboard and despite repeated maintenance being done on the spa, we were never able to use it during the entire trip. It kept spewing out a gray dirty water that looked like it had bugs in it. Later discussing this with some of the maintenance people, It proved to be the result of improper cleaning procedures that need to be done regularly on these spas. In addition, our room had an absolutely beautiful wraparound patio deck for our own personal use for sunning and dining. Unfortunately, for the first week we were unable to use it because the door kept falling off. In addition, the room boasted a full regalia of movies, new and old to be seen in our room, but the DVD player did not work and they did not have one to replace it. Oceania has a long way to go before I will travel with them again.

Loved the size but looking forward Vista in January.Just more options.Ninety percent of my fellow passengers were from L.A. and boy do they let you know it.So cool, rich and in their eyes more important than you.And I’m from Los Angeles!(just minus the attitude and plastic surgery)

Loved Alaska but disappointing first voyage with Oceania by LSilver

Ship: Regatta

We encountered some surprising issues and disappointments, which does not allow us to recommend Oceania. However, we strongly recommend visiting untouched Alaska and its many wonders.

Such a great experience by abbydoodle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta

Overall, we loved the small ship experience and the elevated food and service. Oceania seems to cater to a more mature crowd and we were on the younger side and still had a great time, so much so that we booked another cruise while onboard.

Get to Alaska while you can by SteveMBA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta

Alaska is a must do and as soon as possible. The glaciers are receding at a very high rate, and may get more difficult to get up close to the longer you wait. You also never know if those towns will limit the number of cruise ships allowed to dock on any day.

The French polynesia by vbiggins

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta

I have never giving a negative review on any ship before, but because this ship bragged it up about the amazing food, we truly expected exactly that, and on top of that the ship changed our itinerary at the last minute which also made us sour on the experience. Staff were always very nice and attentive but this ship is not was it advertised and really is for people in their 80s there is very little to do on board, if you want to read and do nothing than this ship is for you, if you want entertainment with decent food, you might want to check out a different cruise line the price of this cruise was not worth it. This was our first of Oceania and our last.

We are cruising again with Oceania this year! by PKAyers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Regatta

One bit of advice is to research where your ship docks so you know if you can walk to the town or city without assistance or booking an excursion. At one port we were too far to walk to town. We took a canoe excursion but never saw the town.

Would Have Rated it 4.5 Stars by ronzeman

Ship: Regatta / Destination: Caribbean

The Mayan Mystique itinerary focused on port locations that allow one to visit some ruins of the great Mayan people. Their locations and access to many sights is physically challenging; (essentially impossible if you have mobility issues.) Even a bus ride will traverse through some rather rough roadways before you'll then have to hike a bit on dirt trails to the ruins. I'm sure in years to come the roadways and access to those amazing Mayan sites will become easier for the less athletic traveler.

A fellow guest I met was an archaeological professor and he was enthralled having the experience of a lifetime actually visiting places like Tikal. We also heard from a couple on-board that are dive enthusiasts. They said the reef dive experiences (off Belize) was extraordinary. Bottom line is you need to be in pretty decent physical shape to go on a lot of the unique excursions available on the Mayan Mystique cruise itinerary.

Since we are mature and experienced cruisers through the Caribbean, not taking those vigorous excursions was perfectly OK and was a good time to relax on the beautiful Regatta. The boat did dock in ports that some larger ships couldn't possibly visit; another plus for the Regatta and for the Mayan Mystique itinerary.

We chose Oceania's Regatta to experience small(er) ship cruising. Our previous Oceania cruise was aboard Riviera and we absolutely loved that experience ( too). Being a smaller ship the Regatta had fewer “specialty” dining venue options but we didn't mind. One perk in our Penthouse Suite was having our butler serve us dinners from virtually any restaurant, including the Polo Grill and from Toscana, the two premium “Fine Dining” options. What a delicious indulgence.

In fact every meal was pure delight; from breakfast in suite, to lunch on the casual Terrace; to exploring the ever changing buffet lines to service in the Grand Dining Room. All were Excellent.
