Review summary

Overall we had a good experience. Our main objective was relaxation and snorkeling at the ports when we could. Having gone on smaller and newer ships in the recent past, this ship had more people on it than we prefer and it might be due for a refurb before long.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Since we had filled out everything prior to the cruise and had our medallions, we got onto the ship very quickly

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Buffet was okay...quite crowded at times. Would have liked more donut/roll options for breakfast. Powdered scrambled eggs were somewhat cool and soggy. Have had better options on some other cruise lines.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We like the Sanctuary and Adults Only Retreat area. We went to the Sanctuary to make a reservation as soon as we boarded but most spots had already been reserved. Did get a cabana in the Retreat area for the first and last day. However, it was quite cool the first day and on the last day we cancelled due to the strong wind which made it too uncomfortable to use.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We were very happy with the entertainment, in particular the dancers and singers. Also the illusionist was very good. Better entertainment than we have had on some other cruises.

Children's Programs

No kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Good experience with the service and staff, in particular our dining room waiter Edna.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Regal Princess might be due for a refurb. The balcony railing for our cabin needed re-stained and re-varnished, paint spots on the balcony floor. Some of the carpet showing its age.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
This cabin was probably the smallest we've had on a cruise. No couch or chair to lounge in. Even with just two of us, felt rather crowded.

Ship tip

The Medallion app takes a bit to get used to but it's very helpful once you understand how it works. The ship has in excess of 3000 guests....we prefer smaller ships.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

Just there to get onboard.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
We did the Maya Key excursion as we like to snorkel and had done this one before. Snorkeliing was great.

Belize City, Belize

4 out of 5
Our excursion went the opposite direction of the port where we did snorkeling. We did not get to the port itself.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Our excursion was a bit confusing and we didn't know we were going to the beach for the second part of it so we didn't have swimwear with us. There were 5 ships in port so the port shop area was very crowded.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We took our own luggage off the ship so we were in the first group disembarking. Went smoothly and quickly.
