Review summary

Our 7 nights on The Regal Princess and all of our stops were a glorious way to celebrate (belatedly) our 50th anniversary. The staff and crew were especially warm and welcoming, truly helping us feel SPECIAL. As seniors, we especially enjoyed a wide variety of ages among our fellow cruisers.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We did all the prep, so it was quick and slick!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We loved the dining space, food & drink, and especially the staff in the Concerto Dining Room!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We enjoyed some trivia and group activities.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The show band was MAGNIFICENT, and most of the singers were very talented. The first "production show" was a let-down for us, with lack of flair and va-va-voom. However, the grand finale was EXCELLENT, with a gorgeous set and lighting, excellent song set with extra talent brought on, and again, the Show Band brought a special zing to the show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, Rocky, was efficient and responsive. We had an EXCELLENT team of hosts and servers in the Concerto Dining Room! They always did something extra to make us special. Special kudos to the Manager, Mauricio, our server Boon, and the hostess with the mostess who greeted us with joy every evening!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
This was the first balcony stateroom we've had that did not have a sofa. The closet was roomy, and we were so glad it was filled with hangers! The bathroom was a bit small and the hot/cold water spigot in the shower was a bit tricky to run. But it was really very nice.

Ship tip

Take advantage of the dining rooms!

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
We came two days early so that bad flying weather couldn't make us miss the ship. We found some nice restaurants.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
There were plenty of chairs in both sun and shade - also, a variety of ways to enjoy the water. We didn't love the buffet ... but we don't enjoy buffets in general.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We did an "Old & New" tour, and it was good, except for the rain.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
We did the Puerto Plata Highlights and Golden Beach. We've NEVER toured in a shiny, bright red bus with tropical curtains in the windows! And what a deLIGHTful, welcoming crew - so full of joy ... and pride in their country and town! The tour was good, but a real highlight was Golden Beach - covered with multiple BEACH BEDS (you read that correctly) and plenty of lounge chairs (in both shade and sun) and umbrellas for everyone! There was a nice open-air restaurant for lunch and beverages, with service out to the beach if we wished! Karaoke and rum punch on the way back underscored the fun!

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
We basically just walked the beach and shopped the shops. It was fun to build a cairn of our own in the nearby "cairn village."

Disembarkation

Slick as a whistle!
