Review summary

Relaxing cruise. Thoroughly enjoyed the time on board and in ports. Excursions were somewhat limited due to hurricane damage of these islands, but we’d do it again.

Worth a meal here. Service and food were excellent.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Discovery at Sea presentations (3 total) on pirates in the Carib where outstanding and very interesting. If you get the opportunity - see these!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Would have given it a five star rating, but one vocalist was a “wailer” in that she really couldn’t sing. It was more like yelling. All others were exceptional including the stage shows.

Princess Live

Had presentation on pirates and all trivia games here. Nice venue but had to get there early to get a seat for some of the activities.

On tender return we bobbed up and down for nearly 40 minutes while another tender was loading (Very slowly). Got a little queasy.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Did not visit, but went by local ferry to St. Johns. Great brewry in the Mongoose Mall area. Had good local beer and great fish tacos. Nice local shops with some good souvenirs.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Had a fun bus/boat tour of the French and Dutch side of the island. Still in recovery from the devistation of two hurricanes. Will take time to make it back, but residents are working hard at recovery. Sad from what it was on our first visit.

Not Princess’ fault, I guess, but had signed up to have luggage taken by Southwest from ship and checked through to final destination and have boarding passes printed before leaving ship. Well that fell through so we had to spend time retagging luggage then moving it fro ship to bus then from bus into airport. And no boarding passes were preprinted. Got boarding passes at airport checkin and we’re among last to board plane - Southwest open seating really sucks. Made plane reservations well enough in advance to have better seating! Boarded plane that had last minute mechanical issue so we had to deplane and wait for another plane (over 3 hours). Now, I am not complaining about the delay. After all safety is critical. However, they took luggage off first plane and it sat out in the pouring rain. When we got home all our clothes were soaked! Just glad we were going home and not just starting our cruise. All in all, Southwest sucked from start to finish!
