Review summary
The Regal Princess is one of the newest ships to sail the New England coast trips. The ship is simply beautiful, with noticeably modern upgrades found in the Piazza, and buffet area. Ports of call were perfectly chosen, with ample time to tour, and enjoy the fall colors. A great surprise was finding Princess now adding 'pickleball' to the choice of sports offered! Entertainment was good as expected, however the theatre felt smaller than other Princess ships, and was filled at least 30 mins before showtime. You either stand in the back of the theatre, or go to the later show which wasn't as crowded as the 8 pm. Found the 'anytime dining' to need some TLC. This option has become quite popular with waiting times for a table to about an hour on formal nights. Princess needs to figure out a better way to get passengers seated as many opting for this type of seating. All in all this was a perfect cruise, and I would totally recommend it!

Ship tip
If you are anytime dining, make sure you arrive early or make a reservation. Be prepared to wait a while to be served once you are seated. Having a happy hour bite before you go to dinner would probably be a good idea. Also get to the theatre about 30 mins. before show time to get a seat.

Hi, what is pickle ball & how & where is it played please as I've never heard of this game before & it sounds interesting. Thank you. X
Pickle ball is kind of like tennis, but played on a smaller court, with paddles instead of racquets. The ball is different too. More like a whiffle ball

Anytime dining does seem to be a challenge for Princess. Especially when you wait for awhile and then see empty tables when you are seated. Anytime dining is useful when you can schedule around shows and activities to suit you daily plans. If you see a long line you are best to either be prepared for a long wait or do some other activity until the line goes down.

Yes, we did have to skip St. John's at the discretion of our Cap't. due to high winds, and with safety of all passengers in mind. While it was a place we were looking forward to, I personally commend our Cap't. for using safety as the higher priority. This lovely ship has many options for dining. I've posted what one of those choices were. The Allegro is not one of the choices for anytime dining. Had we had a set seating time, we probably would not have had to wait to be seated. Just sharing some information.

I was on this same cruise. If one is interested in excursions rather than staying on the ship, one should note that the cpatain skipped the port of St John's Bay of Fundy and left 2 hours early at port of Bar Harbor Maine. I'd happily wait an hour at a restaurant without reservations than missing a port that I have my heart set on. There was no waiting time for those who had reserved seating at the Allegro Restaurant.
