A Most Relaxing Vacation by sglaskey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

This is my second relocation cruise on the Radiance - the first being Hawaii to Vancouver northbound in May, and now southbound in September. Given the year's Pacific hurricanes and humidity, I will opt in the future to go in May. But the cruise was wonderful - so relaxing. If you don't like low key days at sea this is NOT the cruise for you! Great little ship built for cruisers, not those looking for tons of action or shopping. The shore excursions are a bit pricey and for most ports, you don't really need to do one. As always our service was wonderful. My only negative was the "movies" shore excursion in Kauai which was very disappointing and extremely overpriced. The "snorkel and dolphins" excursion aboard the Body Glove catamaran in Kona was the best and worth every penny! John Blair, the cruise director, was excellent - a throwback to the "old" CDs that had lots of talent and were entertainers - and he has several fun, approachable team members that made karaoke, The Quest, etc. hysterical and not to miss. Only wish I could have stayed on for the next leg to Sydney - maybe another time.

Pacific cruise at its best by doreenandgreg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

Would take this cruise again. Ship may not have all the bells and whistles of larger ships but we live the smaller ships. Get to meet more people and the staff n smaller ships are more personal.

We enjoyed our cruise and the ports we had time for. The staff and the food was great on the ship. We wish we had more time in a few of the ports.

Solarium pool, adults only, except... by kathryn13

Sail date: /
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

Solarium pool, adults only, except for two hours every afternoon during our alaskan cruise. We really enjoyed this indoor pool and hot tub area. There is also a small buffet here every evening that is available for everyone, but never seemed overly busy.

Great way to get introduced to the 49th state by RoyalCdnCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This cruise met and exceeded our particular need, a good way to get introduced to the Last Frontier state: its history, its culture and its people. The ports of call and the various attractions available in each of them lay a solid foundation for those who are interested in more than just the sights and the shopping (though, believe me, there's plenty of that alone to fill your days!) We lucked out and had predominantly warm and sunny weather. Most of our excursions were self-guided tours, but between our own research ahead of time, the daily Cruise Compass, and Google Maps, we had plenty to see, do and experience. The White Pass bus tour in Skagway and the bus transfer to Anchorage (both booked separately) provided additional historic narrative. The cruise itself was exactly what we'd expected from RCCL and from a Radiance-class ship: great food variety in Windjammer, comfortable accommodations, plenty of entertainment for days at sea, and a fantastic crew. Seriously, the crew on RCCL are second to none. Every. Single. One of them. Shout out to Daniella from Ayr :)

Northbound Alaskan Cruise by Michael4g94

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

We took this cruise over a year ago so things may have changed since. Alaska was incredible and I’d love to go back soon. Radiance was great for Alaska as you can see outside from everywhere on the ship. The MDR was awful so plan to either eat in the buffet which was the best of all our cruises so far or purchase a specialty restaurant package.

Good Alaska Cruise by mdahneke

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Alaska is everything people describe and worth the money and time. Radiance was good, fine, just not great. I think that Royal Caribbean needs to re-focus on food quality and the dining experience. They are still doing 'service' right!
