Onboard Activities

The theater is small and even arriving 30 minutes before a movie it was full. The evening entertainment was not the quality we are accustomed to but Nashville Tenors was really good. Other shows were so-so.

Cabin / Stateroom

Other than being warm at night the cabin was great. We loved having a balcony to be able to step out on to.
We were surprised at this port. Cartagena offered both very modern buildings and the old, traditional area. We did the Emerald excursion and learned about the mining of emeralds and about emeralds in general. Our guide was awesome! When we returned to port we were able to walk through the aviary and see peacocks, parrots, flamingos along with some other animals.
There is construction at the port as they are building a new terminal which should open next year. Once this is open there should be a lot to do right there in the port area. We took a bus ride out of town and got on small boats to travel along the canal with several large ships headed to and from the locks. We were able to see several monkeys as our guide took us into their habitats.
So much to see and do right in the port area! Many shops and eateries just at the end of the pier. We did the semi-sub boat ride where we got to see many fish from the comfort of an air conditioned boat with viewing areas.
Thanks for the positive feedback. We haven’t cruised out of Galveston since they built the new terminal. We would love to do a Panama Canal crossing someday and enjoy reading about those ports along the way.
