Review summary

First impression was a nice clean ship, well cared for. Comfortable beds and bedding (especially pillows) was important to me. I slept like a baby. Dinner in the main dining room was better to me than in the Windjammer though they always had a nice selection. I had a burger and onion rings at the Seaveiw Cafe and the onion rings were really good. There was always something to do, though we never did any of them except go to a few shows. We were too busy at the ports! The crew and waitstaff go out of their way to remember your name and make YOU feel like your special, even though they probably do that for everyone. I had a great overall experience and would definitely sail the Radiance again. The captain was very friendly and so humorous, I looked forward to his morning announcements.

Not much to do or see here. You can do whale watching here, but we did this in Juneau. They JUST opened a zip line that was an awesome ride. The views going up the mountain to the zip line is worth some of the cost alone because you get to see the town and residential life and more beautiful vistas. The zip line is very cool as you are flying over the top of the forest. EVERYONE was doing it, even 83 year olds! I don't like that they call this port Icy Straights when it is actually Hoonah, and in talking to some of the locals you can tell they are offended by this. There is nothing in town to see so I wouldn't take the shuttle into to town.
Don't Miss: Zip line.

Motorcoach up to Frasier, Canada with beautiful vistas. White Pass Railroad back down. Beautiful scenery everywhere.
Don't Miss: Go the visitor's information center to view a 30 minute movie about the White Pass Trail to enhance your train ride experience.

Must take a walk to the Totem Heritage Center and Eagle/Salmon Hatchery. The walk there gives you an interesting look at residential life. Then a walk down Married Man's lane to Creek Street where all the shops are. Flight tour to the Misty Fjords was so nice.
Don't Miss: Do all your shopping in Ketchikan! It has the best prices and best shopping.

Mt. Roberts Tramway gives you a beautiful view from atop the mountain and has some nice trails. Whale watching is good here. Don't miss Menhenhall Glacier where you can walk up to a huge waterfall next to the glacier.
Don't Miss: Mendenhall Glacier.
