Review summary

We had an outstanding cruise!! The food was some of the best we have eaten on a ship. It was excellent!

Embarkation

Embarkation was okay. We had priority boarding so we got upstairs really quickly and it was just a few minutes to check in. The weird part was once in the main area waiting to board there was a lot of confusion. They called for all pinnacle & suite passengers to board first so we stood in a line. Then we were told there was a delay on the ship being released so we needed to sit down. We sat down and not 3 minutes later they opened the door for boarding and the entire room rushed the door. It was kinda insane. I have never seen that before. My thought was it was a lot like when your at an outdoor concert and people get pushed by the crowd. It was wild. Besides the almost stampede by the overly excited passengers embarkation was ok.

Food and Dining

The specialty dining was excellent!!!! We had the 3 night dining plan. We went to Wonderland, Jaime’s and Chop’s Grille. I ate each night until I could no longer eat. Wonderland was a great experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Jaime’s was absolutely fantastic!!!! I loved it. Chop’s was very good. We ate at the Coastal Kitchen twice it was very good. We had 1 lunch at Izumi’s it was great! The only disappointing food we encountered was the one dinner we had in the MDR. It was not good. We had a couple of lunches at Windjammer and it was better food than what we had at MDR. We are not fans of cruise ship buffets so that might tell you how much we disliked our MDR dinner. We had breakfast and lunch most days in either Silk or the American Icon Grill, both were good. I have to mention that the service was excellent in each of the restaurants.

We only went to one musical performance and we enjoyed it very much. We are still kinda anxious about being in large crowds with Covid.

Almost everyone we had contact with was amazing! Our room steward did a great job in our cabin. Out of all the meals we had onboard only one time did we have less than stellar service. That’s pretty good. Out of 21 odd meals over the 7 days only 1 waiter was lousy.

Ship Quality

Quantum is a beautiful ship. She is not a new ship but is in very good shape. I love the layout too. We had heard that we were at capacity for the sailing but I never felt truly cramped or overwhelmed by people.
