Overall Wonderful! Would do this cruise again in a heartbeat!! Loved every port. When you book this cruise, remember, the ship is not the attraction as is the case on other cruises. The ports are the attraction and the cruise is your mobile hotel. I only wish they had laundry facilities for guests. That would have made it so much nicer. I guess they figure your on land so much you can take it with you, but who wants to lug laundry off the ship?? Well Done Norwegian, and Thank You!
Special Thanks to Caroline, our room steward, she is marvelous!!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Although they allow you to board at 12pm, we didn't board the ship until approx. 4pm. We walked into the terminal, dropped off our luggage to have it go through security, checked ourselves in 1,2,3, done ...and we walked onto the ship. Our room was ready so we went straight to our room 9136.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We mostly ate at the Aloha Buffet and the Cadillac Diner. Both were good, no complaints. We did tire of the "same thing" every night, but they did have a large variety. On deck 12, above the pool, the grill station has Fabulous burgers with Portobello mushrooms and blue cheese. They taste awesome!
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The ports are really the attraction. They have basketball, mini golf, chess, checkers, pools and hot tubs. We used the hot tubs but the wind made it so cold when you got out!!
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Saw the comedy show and Vegas Style Show. Both were great! Enjoyed the Harry Potter Trivia and the Crew Volleyball Game (in the pool!) OK, perhaps that shouldn't be under "entertainment" category, but I found it very entertaining to see the crew get into the pool in their uniforms!!
Children's Programs
Our kids didn't go to the childrens programs
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff gets 5+ stars. They have to deal with an enormous amount of people and they must "wear" smiles daily. They were all nice and we had no problems. Each and every staff member we encountered was really nice, thank you!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was really easy to navigate. Yes, it was clean, no complaints there.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We lucked out. Being on the Starboard side of the ship, we had the best views on the ship as we entered ports. We also got to watch the lava flow into the sea from our balcony!! Best side of the ship to be on. In Kauai, we had lovely mountains to view vs the harbor terminal. Would recommend getting a room on the starboard side! We were near enough to the elevators/stairs so that was a plus too! The ONE thing I would bring next time are the removable 3M adhesive hooks. That way I could hang things up around the cabin (my bag etc) Loved that our Luggage could slide under the bed for storage!
Ship tip
The ONE thing I would bring next time are the removable 3M adhesive hooks. That way I could hang things up around the cabin (my bag etc) Someone had suggested bringing lanyards and a hole puncher for our ship cards/room cards. We did and I was so happy everyone had their key cards around their necks so I didn't hear them tell me they lost their key card. It also made getting on and off the ship a breeze.
Each port was wonderful. On Oahu, we did the Chiefs Luau and it was wonderful. Visited Pearl Harbor, the Dole Plantation and the North Shore. All were great!
Another wonderful stop. We rented a car and explored on our own. Fabulous time. Went to Haleakala Crater and it was so cold up there, then we went to the beach and everyone got sunburned!! Returned to the ship exhausted!
For me, this was the best port! Went to Volcanoes National Park, awesome to see the lava spurting up in the distance! Loved the Lava Fields!! The Lava Tube was also pretty cool.
Very unusual and beautiful mountains. This island has been the backdrop of many movies. We drove to Hanalei Town. There is one road in and the same road out, which is under construction, so we sat in traffic for a Long time. Rained the whole time we were there. The second day it rained again but we enjoyed our time anyway. I actually went for a ride in an outrigger canoe. Explored the beautiful Marriott Hotel there and loved seeing their Koi pond full of fish hopping out.
Norwegian has the Science of Cruising down to a fine art. We had our disembarkation time, got off the ship as directed, no problem. They had buses waiting to take us to the Hilton Hawaiian Village, we boarded and off we went. They really know how to move "masses" of people quickly.
