Basic cruise in Amazing Hawaii Islands. Poor crew staff, poor food, boring and old cruise.

they say that the first impression is very important, we started badly, only the Hawaiians that gave you the flower necklace and the band that played music tte received the rest of the crew of the NCL Pride of America "never smiled", that was frustrating

The food was bad, prepared with cheap products, nothing organic or special like others cruises. In main restaurant the plates didn't have presentation. It seemed that there was no chef. Everything has rice, potatoes or pasta. Bad quality.
It was very sad to see the poor food that the cruise offers to the passengers, most of them are 70 years old or more. With my husband we hired the tour to the rainfall and to the volcano in Hilo, when leaving the ship they gave us a box with lunch. When we were on the bus we opened it, it contained a big bread sandwich with just a bit of lettuce and a bit of cut turkey, a packet of chips, a package with 2 wet cookies and a small green apple that was not mature enough to bite. Also my husband was not given the chips and the apple was bitten. A shame!Most of the drinks are served in cheap plastic cups, not in plastic glasses.

It was unbelievable that barman was so rude every day, he never smiled, everybody realized that he didnt like his job! I asked few ice, never mind! He filled the plastic cup with ice.

The cruises usually have an store thats offer a wide selection of perfumes, make up and creams, I don't.

I give 3 stars only for some crew members. I'm a experienced cruiser with more than 25 cruises in different cruises lines, 6 in NCL. Crew working in the staterooms were very good, some of the waiters too, but the rest of them had a lack of training, they were antipathetic, distracted and inexperienced. the man who prepared the juices of squeezed orange was not prepared, he did not know how to use the juicer, his juice was dripping down the counter, I could not believe it!

Old design with poor quality materials. Stone, marble, no! cheap melamine similar marble in the all ship. Cleanliness in the Staterooms excellent, in the rest of the ship average.

The itinerary is amazing, its the only cruise that visit 4 islands, and people is focused on that. Most of the passengers are 70 and older, very few young people, kids or middle age. Its a "basic cruise", you can bring some light clothes, bathsuits, a sweater, hat and sunglasses. Forget to dress to go dancing or elegant for dinner, people wear the same clothes and shoes all day, which surprised me because as an experienced cruise ship I enjoy the boat 24 hours and here I had a lot of time to sleep. at night the restaurants were semi empty, the ship was semi empty although it was complete, people did not manage to go to dinner or to see the show or to dance, a boat with little and boring social life.
We spend 2 beautiful days, we tried with the ship tour, but it was pre-cruise sold out, so we had to find a tour in a mall near the port. Excellent! we hired a private guided tour that for the same value took us to see the sunset in the volcano, to visit the city and the next day, to visit the turtles, the whales and to see the island.

No idea what cruise you were on, but we just took the same cruise and had no issues at all. Crew was great, had great waiter and his assistant, room was well taken care of and steward was outgoing, food was excellant ( plus i didnt have to make it or clean up), ports were excellent even if we didnt do any pricey excursions. The reason there is no duty free shop with perfume and liquor is because its a US based ship. Which is also why no casino because it sails in US waters. Like i stated, have no idea where you were served rice, potatoes and pasta all the time. We had great choices and plenty to select from. Maybe you need to spend more and go on a cruise that caters to you and you alone!!!
