Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Breakfast was served instead of buffet. Main dining was a fine dining experience.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Missed many classes due to being on excursions. Enjoyed the culinary show by the chef. he prepared poke and a Tahitian dish fresh tuna.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
First night Tahitian dancers show was excellent and colorful. Did not have my camera--big mistake. Crew cruise entertainment night showed the tremendous talent in our midst. Professional shows okay. Enjoyed the dancers, musicians and singers who would come into the dining room for a short bit at dinner.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Top notch English skills strong with a delightful sense of humor. Requests were understood, not forgotten or ignored. Excellent follow up on any questions.

Ship Quality

Thought only two sets of elevators would incur long waits. It was a short walk to either set. fast and quiet. Very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Room was adequate size. Had a sofa so we did not need to sit on bed. Balcony was decent size. Great for sitting out and watching the world go by. Liked the fresh fruit that was ripe and with good taste.

Ship tip

Be prepared for a wonderful experience.

Ports of call

Papeete, Tahiti

We had visited previously. Feel safe and comfortable. "Expensive" Tahiti is a myth. Walked from our apartments pre and post cruise. Only took a cab because of luggage. Even have a favorite taxi driver in Papeete.

Huahine, French Polynesia

Another beautiful stop. Our tour guide was US/French citizen. Explained the history, culture, and encouraged folks to greet everyone. Explained the French support and the benefits the citizen have such as no income taxes, excellent developed infrastructure and free healthcare services. Cultural center had beautiful art work by Billy Holcomb and Tapa cloth display.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Excursion of "Le truck" was cancelled. The previous day we arranged a private tour of the island. Delightful gentleman who was born and raised there drove us around the entire island. Saw one of the seven cannons from WWII. Explained the land is handed from one generation to another. Also, they receive a piece of land in one of the atolls. this is where the family will go fro Saturday and Sunday to destress. Best picture of us in Bora Bora was at this location.

Rangiroa, French Polynesia

Scheduled glass bottom boat tour. It was cancelled. Went to the island anyhow. Only activity would have been a walk down the road to the end of the road. Had a beer at one of the two restaurants. Watched the fish feeding in front of the restaurant in crystal clear.

Fakarava, Tuamotu Archipelago

5 out of 5
Did the guided ATV ride to the northern part of the island. Saw the old light house and the airport. After the ride had a fruit juice and rum drink. Visit with a delightful couple who do the ATV rides. She is the guide. Admits to liking to drive fast! They shared with us school information. He admitted to living in Papeete. TOO big of a town. He could not wait to return to the peace and quit of Fakarava.

Taha'A, Society Islands

Tour stopped at many spots. Explained coconut food and use for the tree especially as ropes that last hundred of years. topped at an overlook. Served fresh grated coconut, fresh island fruits and baked breadfruit. Rode in the cab with a driver and we discussed cost of gas, cost of internet, TV services, and groceries. Island seemed to be more lush than the other islands.

Moorea, French Polynesia

5 out of 5
A foodie tour we arranged prior to departure. Fellow who drove and guided the tour was excellent. Born and raised on Moorea. Graduated from US university and Hawai'ian culinary school.. Great insight on Moorea culture and able to understand the questions US citizens would ask. Encouraged folks to greet/thank everyone with l'orana and muruuru. Stopped at multiple, multiple places for a variety of food samples.
