Review summary

Waited four years to do this tour due to covid conflicts and travel concerns with health during this time, but would highly recommend the trip. Very expensive, but worth it. Will never leave from Vancouver port ever again based on experience we had this time.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Vancover processing was the worst we have ever experienced. 2 hours in many lines till we finally were on the ship. I had back problems to stand that length of time was excruicating and exhausting. Did not have priority boarding for those with physical issues at this terminal. Processings 3 large ships for departure all in same lines for luggage drop off and leaving country.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Our stateroom attendant was excellent. Staff for the most part on the ship and off at ports were very personable and helpful. Food was like other cruises. We did not eat in any specialty restaurants. Fish and Chips at little restaurant on pool deck was excellent.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Too cold to use pool. Pool deck well maintained though when we had to walk in those areas. Did not use any of the other facilities listed.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were spectacular. Compared to other cruise lines we have taken Royal Cruises entertainment shows are top notch.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
Did not have children to use this area of the ship.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
With the exception of a few times for departure for port tours everyone was great. With more older adults traveling and having disablity issues having to go up and down stairs to meet for activities and not be able to use elevators with walking was an issue for me with back constraints. Some staff were not accomadating with needed route to exit ship using elevators.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very well maintained and clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very spacious. First time with balcony. Some obstruction which we knew when we booked on either side of cabin with life boats beside and restaurant below us. Was wonderful to be able to sit on deck at times and view scenery while cruising or in port.

Ship tip

Nice ship. Served our needs. Well maintained.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

We arrived earlier to this area before our cruise and explored the area.

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
Late getting off ship so tour guide who was excellent had to adjust our tour. When getting off the ship not given proper directions to go to location for tour start. Very confusing. Need more organization for that stop. I feel we should be compensated for what time we missed. Tour guide was excellent.

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
We had a wonderful tour experience with wildlife seen on tour. I thought the expense was a lot for what we were given.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Tour guide we had was excellent. One of the best tours we have ever taken anywhere. Money was well worth the day we spent doing our activities. Would highly recommend.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

3 out of 5
We did not get off the ship, just cruised through area. Did not see much of the glacier just some peaces that floated by us during the day at times.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Very confusing to find location to meet for tour. Tour guide young and not as personable as some of the other guides we had. Did a good job at the Totem Park. Town tour information was very sparse and only for the exit route out to the park.

Seattle, Washington

3 out of 5
Again left off ship very late. Tour guide was great, but had to adjust our stops. We lost an hour on the tour and could not see sights scheduled due to lateness. Some people had flights BEFORE 3pm which meant we had to get to the airport again earlier that we should have arrived.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Due to docking procedures we sat and waited over an hour to get off for our tour. Very disappointing. Procedure to get from area designated back to tour location was again up and down, but we could use the elevators if needed so we did not have to walk the stairs for those of us who had medical issues.
